Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 121

After my unfortunate encounter with Francesca, I’d gone straight to my room and locked the door. I didn’t bother going to work because I was already late, and I refused to go in for the rest of the week. I spent every day until today, and even now, wallowing in self-pity.
So, she was right. Well… not exactly.
“Twice,” I corrected. “I was supposed to come to work on Tuesday, but I had to report to VALEX for a meeting.”
Leah rolled her eyes. “You were supposed to report to work first.”
I furrowed my brows. “I had to report early for the meeting,” I replied, matching her obnoxious tone.
“And the rest of the week? What excuse do you have?” Leah gritted. “I’ll be speaking to HR, and trust me, if I can’t get you fired now, I’ll do it sooner or later.”
Panic swirled in my chest, but I fought hard not to let it show on my face.
I couldn’t lose my job. Not now. Not ever. And the last thing I’d let anyone do was take it away from me.
“I’ll ask for my sick leave to be counted against the days I was absent,” I said calmly. “I’m sure HR will understand.”
The triumphant look on her face vanished, replaced by a deep frown. “Miss Whitmore.” Leah narrowed her eyes and took a step closer. “I will be watching you.”
I took a step back. “Thanks for the heads-up.” I turned around and threw over my shoulder, “I’ll make sure to give you a show.”
With shaky legs, I managed to walk away and head into my office, pushing the door open.
“I’m so fucking pissed at you.”

Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend
Sierra’s voice rang out, her eyes blazing with anger as she glared at me from behind her desk.
Soused in the middle of the room and bit my lip. “I’m sorry!”
She raised her hand. “Keep the apologies!”
I walked over to her desk. “I can explain.”
“You ghosted me!”
