After leaving her in the office last Monday because I wanted to go eat junk food, and ending up at Alvise’s house instead 1. was so mentally drained that I didn’t bother turning my phone back on until yesterday.
I’d practically survived on rom-coms and an unhealthy amount of ice cream to distract myself.
I rounded her desk and grabbed her hand. “At least look at me!”
“No!” She shook her head. “I can’t believe you just ignored me.”
I felt horrible.
Sierra didn’t deserve to be ghosted, especially when she’d done absolutely nothing wrong. I was completely at fault.
“I’m so sorry, Sierra.” My voice broke. “I was just dealing with a lot… but that doesn’t excuse anything. I know.”
She turned to look at me. “Archie called me on Tuesday night. He had no idea where you were, and you didn’t have your phone.” She pulled her hand away from mine. “Where the hell were you?”
I looked away, my mind at war over what to tell her.
I was tired of walking on eggshells and lying, so I settled for the truth. “I got into an argument with Alvise, and he sent me out of his office.”
Sierra gasped and shot to her feet. “He fucking did what? How could he?” she hissed. “It was raining heavily!”
I bit my lip and finally met her gaze. “He didn’t exactly send me out of the building… just his office.”
