Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 135
rrelationship had become more strained than it was after the morning Henry dropped me off here. The whole thing wr Alvise, and then Francesca threatening me, had almost reduced me to a shell of myself, so I intentionally avoided Archie.
I was scared… no, terrified, that he would see right through my armour and know I wasn’t okay. I didn’t want to worry him. not after I’d seen just how much he cared for me.
There was a thick silence, one that stretched on for what felt like an eternity, before Archie finally sighed. “That’s what I’m trying to find out.” And then he turned around and left my room.
I dropped onto the bed and drew my knees to my chest. Tired. I was tired of this fucking cycle. I owed it to myself and o my brother to stop being so wounded and depressed.
I needed something… A distraction… Anything! I’d considered going on a vacation, but I laughed the thought off. Leah made sure not only that my sick leave was cleared, but that even another leave or permit was cleared to replace all the times I’d been absent from work.
So, that was completely out of the question.
I grabbed my phone and groaned before falling back onto the bed. Though I fought hard to suppress it, memories of Sierra’s words to me two weeks ago rang out in my head.
“Live a little, Arabella! You don’t have to overthink everything!”
I laughed at the memory. She’d said that because my phone had dinged with a message from Henry.
Hi, Sorry, but I had my investigator find your contact too. Don’t be too spooked out, he’s just good at his job.
Will you have dinner with me?
I was going to say no, but Sierra grabbed my phone and agreed to the dinner!
I’d been so shocked that I couldn’t even delete the message or say anything else. A few minutes later, Henry texted me again and asked when I would be comfortable going out for dinner.
And, of course, Sierra replied to the message instantly. She told him to set a date in two weeks.
“I made it in two weeks so you’d have time to think about it, Ella! Just do this… For me at least!” she’d said, blinking puppy
eyes at me.
I’d ultimately agreed and forgotten all about it until today.
Henry texted me a reminder with the time he was going to pick me up. It was tomorrow. Now, my mind was a mess.
I was rethinking my decision, and I badly wanted to back out. I couldn’t imagine thinking of anyone else romantically if it I wasn’t Alvise.
I could see no one else the way I saw him. No one else excited me or made me feel even a fraction of the emotions he managed to pull out of me without trying. But maybe that was the problem.
Did I not feel anything for anyone else because I never gave anyone else a chance?
The question tugged at my chest, stopping me from sending the message I’d just typed on my phone to cancel on Henry.
Alvise hated me, and it was my fault. I wanted no one else but him, but I couldn’t have him. Francesca would never let me… And he was engaged. Out of reach.

Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend
Did I owe it to myself to try?
ing my lip, I cleared the message I’d typed and typed another one before sending it.
With shaky breaths, I stared at the message I’d sent.
Okay. See you tomorrow.
