“I don’t want you to take me home,” I mumbled.
He rounded the car and got in before giving me a lazy reply. “Too bad I don’t take orders from you. Now put your fucking
seatbelt on.”
I gritted my teeth because I was already about to put it on anyway. To feed my pride, I huffed in annoyance and folded my arms, refusing to do it.
Fresh wood and a cool, sizzling scent hit me as he leaned over to do the seatbelt himself. My lips hovered near his chest, and I dug my nails into my seat to stop myself from reaching out to touch him.

“You don’t know?” He scoffed. “I believe that means you’ll be okay with wherever I take you.”
My eyes widened. “No… That’s not what I meant.”
He didn’t respond, and his eyes stayed on the road.
I swallowed. “Alvise?”
There was no response.
I scratched the back of my head and cleared my throat. “I know you can hear me…”

not going to shut up.”
The car suddenly pulled to a stop, lurching me forward. “Oh my…” I rasped, clutching my seatbelt.
I turned to glare at him. “I know you hate me… but you don’t have to kill me to prove that!”
He leaned back in his chair and stroked his chin. “Why did you go on a fucking date with him?”
