Straddling Him
ARABELLA POV
I bit my lip, unsure of what to say as I stared at him.
He didn’t look pissed. In fact, it was quite the opposite. He was calm. The type of calm that was almost terrifying.
I blinked, remembering his question. “Because I wanted to.”
He went still. So still, I believed I could no longer hear him breathe. Alvise turned to look at me, the blue in his eyes almost vanishing. “This is the second time I’ve asked you about something related to him and you’re saying you did it because you
wanted to, Arabella. The second time.”
His words sent chills down my spine. The way he said them… like it was some sort of countdown made me wary. Suddenly feeling hot, I unclipped my seatbelt and flexed my hands.
Against my better judgment, I said, “But that’s the truth.”
I yelped, my heart almost lurching out of my chest as he grabbed my hand and yanked me till I sat on his lap.
His scent wafted in the air, clouding my senses. It felt like I was suddenly airheaded, so I placed my hands on his chest to steady myself.
“Alvise,” I whispered, “What are you doing?
His eyes, hard and emotionless, bored into mine. His fingers grazed my waist, but he didn’t actually touch me. “I’ll ask again. why did you go on a date with him?”

“Why are you doing this?” I asked, my voice barely audible..
“I asked you a question, Arabella.” He scraped his tongue over his teeth. “You know I hate it when you refuse to answer my questions.”
“I did it because I…”
He grabbed the back of my head and pulled me close till his lips hovered over mine.
I stopped breathing, placing my hands on his chest to stop myself from falling over.
“Finish your sentence. I dare you.”
His breath, minty and fresh, hit me. I closed my eyes, struggling to decide what I wanted to do.
I was playing games with the devil. And that never ended well. But… would he really do anything? I suddenly wanted to find
out.
“I… I went on the date with him because…” I licked my lips, shivering when his eyes followed the movement. “I actually wanted to go on the date with him…”
His lips crashed on mine, stealing my breath away. It felt like I blacked out, my head suddenly empty and my body numb as his lips moved over mine, slow… painfully slow, but addictive..
He didn’t slip his tongue in my mouth, but his lips drove me crazy. I tried to match his rhythm, but I couldn’t. He didn’t let

The kiss was angry, fast and slow all at once and though I tried to fight it, a moan escaped my lips.
