She twirled her finger around a strand of her hair. “No. I haven’t. This is actually my first time.”

“You don’t travel a lot?” Francesca asked, chiming in.

Tatiana shook her head, “No, I don’t. My papa is really protective of me.” She looked towards the stage, her eyes settling on Alvise, who was now giving a speech. “And now, he’s very protective.”

I really needed to puke. Why was I still sitting here, enduring the torture?

I wanted to leave badly, but if I did, I’d just be showing my weakness and making it clear I was bothered.

“What do you do for a living?”

My brows drew together as I stared at Tatiana. She was talking to me. “Excuse…”

“This is your second time asking to be excused,” she said, rolling her eyes. “Is that like a thing you say often?”

rossed my legs under the table, levelling her with my gaze. “I assume there isn’t. But if there were, I don’t think it would be a problem either way.”

“Don’t be rude to the guest, Arabella,” Francesca scolded, pinning me with a glare.

Tatiana turned to look at her, “I’m not a guest, sweetheart. This is my fiancé’s event.” She sighed. “I’m practically the host.”

The mischievous smile on Francesca’s face disappeared, replaced with a frown.

Archie took a sip of his wine, refusing to join the conversation. He probably already drew the line and labelled it women’s conversation he had no business with.

“I’m famished,” Tatiana said, eyeing the snacks on the table. Shaking her head in disgust, she pointed at Sierra. “Can you get me something vegetarian?”

Sierra blinked, “I’m not a server.”

“You’re not?” Tatiana asked, eyeing her up and down. “I think the dated vintage gown must have confused me.”

Having had enough, I snapped, “Isn’t the whole point of vintage being dated? In your search to embarrass people, try to make sure you get your facts right.”

Tatiana’s eyes found mine and, to my surprise, she smiled. “There’s that fire my sister talked about.” Her eyes grew darker. “I can’t wait to tame it.”
