Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 162

“You’re welcome,” she said, her voice dripping with fakeness.

I let my eyes travel down her full-sleeved white maxi dress. She dressed just like she did in her pictures. Like the first lady of a country who prioritised gracefulness and class.

Too bad her attitude was the complete opposite.

reyes travelled down the length of my brown work pants and tailored asymmetrical top. “You dress just like you speak.” shesaid, her tone biting.

I scoffed. “I think you’re just jealous,” I said, matching her tone. “I’m guessing your ‘protective’ father doesn’t let you wear what you want?”

Her eyes flared, and she stepped closer. “You little London girl. I would advise you to keep my father’s name out of your mouth.”

“I’ll do so when you watch the way you speak to me,” I said, refusing to back down.

I shouldn’t have brought up her father. I didn’t even know the man or what their relationship was like. In fact, I didn’t care. I had only made a reference to what she’d said at the opening ceremony.

But now, seeing the way my words had riled her up, I realised I’d clearly hit a nerve.

“You have no idea who I am,” Tatiana said, faking a smile. “And that’s for the best, sweetheart, so tread carefully.”

My face fell. I was sick of her and her sister throwing the power card at me and acting like they were superior. I wanted to h her where it hurt. “Or you’re going to tell your papa?”

Her smile disappeared, and a deep, angry scowl marred her face. “Don’t go digging where you shouldn’t, little girl.”

She leaned in, lowering her voice so only I could hear. “Or you might dig your own grave.”

ARABELLA’S POV

“You look more handsome than you should,” I said, patting my brother’s head.

“Is that even a compliment?” Archie chuckled. “Though, I’m going to have to accept it as one.”

I smiled. “Happy birthday, Archie! I can’t believe my big brother is now so old.”

His smile disappeared. “Arabella!” He groaned, clasping his wristwatch around his wrist. “I’m not that old.”/

I shrugged. “If you say so. I mean, it’s your birthday, so I’m technically supposed to feed into your delusions.”

“Sometimes, I wonder how we’re even siblings. You belong in a zoo.”

“And you belong in the ocean, but here we are, cohabiting. Isn’t that the cutest thing ever?” I grabbed a flute of champagne from the tray on the dining table. “Where are your guests?”

To celebrate Archie’s birthday, he had decided to have a simple birthday dinner with just his family and close friends.

I wasn’t going to attend until I was told that my parents weren’t going to make it. So, I cancelled the boring dinner reservation I’d made and got dressed in a sparkly mini red dress.

It was a black-tie dinner, but Archie had specially gotten me the dress days before and told me to wear it.

It matched his red tie perfectly.

“They’re probably waiting to make sure they’re the last to arrive so they can make a grand entrance,” Archie joked, retrieving his phone from his pocket.

I faked a yawn. “Good thing you know your friends so well, but I’m getting hungry.”
