Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 163
The doorbell rang suddenly, making me flinch.
Archie wiggled his brows. “Go get the door. Your prayers have been answered,
I stuck out my tongue at him before walking to the door. Pulling it open, I flashed a big smile, opening my mouth to give the guest a warm welcome.
My face fell, my smile fading as I stared at the man in front of me.
Alvise’s eyes were trained on his phone, giving me an unobstructed view of his dark, thick hair. His suit, darker than black itself, was sharp and so smooth that there wasn’t a single wrinkle in sight.
He glanced up slowly, and with each passing second, it felt like he was tearing me apart with his eyes.
“Welcome,” I said politely, then stepped to the side to let him pass/
Alvise slipped his phone into his pocket, but instead of coming in, he turned around, as if waiting for someone to join him.
Blonde hair and a vibrant nude dress came into view, and I stilled.
He brought her along?
I was no longer interested in being a polite co-host. I turned around and left them standing at the door.
“Who is that?” Archie asked from the kitchen.

Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend
“Your best friend and his fiancée,” I said, not bothering to lower my voice.

their presence behind me as I sat on a plush couch and crossed my legs. Maybe I shouldn’t have cancelled my dinner reservation after all.
Was there still time to renew it?
“She didn’t say welcome to me, baby,” Tatiana said, loud enough for me to hear.
I sucked in a breath, waiting to hear his response. Alvise didn’t reply, and for some reason, that made me sigh in relief.
What would I have done if he’d supported her? I had no idea. It was better that I didn’t know the answer to that question.
After our last encounter at the clothing store, I’d made sure to avoid her completely. Sure, her threats could be empty threats, but I wasn’t willing to stick around and find out what she could do to me.
“Hey,” Archie greeted, walking into the living room. “Welcome, man.” He gave Alvise their signature handshake before taking Tatiana’s hand and holding it up politely. “Thanks for coming.”
She shrugged, looking around the room like it carried bacteria. “You don’t need to thank me. I go wherever he goes.”
I rolled my eyes just as the doorbell rang again. I stood and went to open the door, grateful for the moment of space from the blonde bombshell I had no idea was coming to the dinner.
“I’ve never been happier to see you,” I said, pulling Sierra in for a hug once I saw her.
Sierra gasped. “You look beautiful.” She gave me an exaggerated once-over, her eyes travelling down my dress. “And those heels! Whose neck are you pressing with those?”
I blushed and lightly slapped her hand. “How can I ever stop being delusional when you feed into my delusions this much?” I said, ushering her in.
We chatted some more before I let her join the others in the living room.
I wasn’t in the mood to pretend or act oblivious to Tatiana’s snide comments, so I excused myself and went to my comfort place.
The kitchen.
I was snooping around in the fridge when I suddenly stilled, my body becoming hyperaware of the presence behind me.
I turned around.
Alvise walked into the kitchen, his phone in hand as he engaged in a call.
I looked away and turned my attention back to the fridge. I was trying to decide which flavour of ice cream I should go for.
“Arabella.”
The air disappeared from my lungs, my heart racing at an alarming speed.
Why was he calling me?
I glanced at him. “What?”
Alvise tilted his head to the side. “Is that the way you’re meant to talk to your boss?” he asked, his tone cold.
“This isn’t work hours.”
