Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 164
“And who decided that?”
id, I said, settling for the vanilla ice cream and taking it from the fridge.
“You’ve missed some meetings,” he said, his deep voice making me move faster as I rinsed a spoon in the sink.
“I have?” I asked. “I don’t think you’re quite on track, sir.”
“Save the bullshit,” he snapped. “You know exactly what meetings I’m referring to, so speak, unless you want to lose your job.”
I stabbed the spoon into my ice cream. “I missed only two meetings at Valex.”
“I already know that,” Alvise dismissed, glancing at his wristwatch. “The question is why.”
“I wasn’t technically absent. I sent my colleagues as representatives,” I said, refusing to take the blame.
“Like I said, why?”
I breathed out, tired and annoyed, and without a second thought, I blurted. “I didn’t want to see your face.”

Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend
Eavesdropping
ARABELLA’S POV
“You didn’t want to see my face?” Alvise asked, raising a brow.
I searched his face, but there was no visible emotion. “Yes,” I whispered.
He walked further into the kitchen until he was standing on the other side of the counter, facing me.
55 vaunt
“I don’t care what your reason is,” he said, stroking his chin. “When it’s time for you to show up at work, you show up.” His eyes darkened. “And don’t send fucking representatives.”
“If you were going to say this, why did you ask me why I missed?” I asked, annoyed by his calculated calmness.
He stood up. “I was testing you.” And then, like he was done with the conversation, he approached me.
I stared up at him as he leaned down to take water from the fridge. Two bottles of water.
My stomach knotted when I realised he was taking one for his fiancée too. I pushed off the fridge and walked towards the door, eager to get away from him.
“No more missed meetings, Arabella.” Alvise’s firm voice stopped me.
I turned back to look at him, but all I could do was glare, gritting my teeth.
Alvise scraped his tongue over his teeth. “I will not hold back from getting you fired if you break the rules.”
I balled my hands into fists at my sides. He was threatening my job now?
“Fuck you, Alvise,” I snapped, my chest heaving up and down as I turned on my heel and walked out of the kitchen.
If this was what it felt like to be blinded by rage, then I was definitely blinded by it. He had no right… no right to say anything about my job or getting me fired.
I didn’t play when it came to my career.
Movement in the hallway made me halt. I glanced in that direction, only to see a speck of blonde hair hanging out from behind a barely closed door.
You’ve got to be kidding me.
I stomped to the door and pushed it open, revealing Tatiana’s surprised face. “This is low, even for you,” I snapped.
The embarrassment in her eyes quickly turned to anger. “You know nothing about me.”
“You claim to be the proper lady with so much good manners,” I scoffed. “But you’re eavesdropping?”
She tried to sidestep me. “I wasn’t eavesdropping.”
I stepped in her way. “Except you are, and you’ve been caught.” I folded my arms. “What are you doing here?”
“You have no right to ask me questions.”
I rolled my eyes. She was saying this to me in my own brother’s house. That just proved how much she thought she was above me. “Do I need to remind you where you are?”
“Get out of my way,” she gritted, her eyes sparkling with fury.
