Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend

I wasn’t.

was going on? Why would the two of them be at my workplace?

Alarm shot through me. This was bad. It was terrifyingly crazy.

“It took you long enough,” Tatiana breathed, lazily tapping her fingers against the desk. “I guess you’re also bad at being punctual.”

“Good morning, boss,” I greeted, ignoring her. “You called for me?”,”

Christian looked hesitant and pissed at the same time. “Yes. Please take a seat.”

Hesitantly, I complied, eyeing the sisters seated by his side while trying to understand what was going on. Nothing madd sense. I couldn’t even begin to guess their reason for being here.

Tatiana’s sister shot me a sharp glare, and it was enough to tell me whatever was about to happen wasn’t going to be good.

Christian cleared his throat. “I have received a complaint from these two women.” He glanced down at the file in front of him. “A complaint about you.”

What? A complaint?

No… Please, someone needed to wake me up from this nightmare.

My stomach dipped, and I fisted my dress beneath the table. “What kind of complaint?”

Christian leaned back in his chair. “It’s regarding your work. They have alleged that they met up with you and asked for information about our company so they could invest and possibly buy shares, but you shut them off and told them to take their money elsewhere.”

It felt like a bucket of ice-cold water had been poured over me. My hands flexed in my lap, and my feet bounced against the

floor on their own accord.

What kind of lie was that?

Me!

I’d never spoken to them about my work. I didn’t even know they had any idea where I worked to begin with.

“That’s not true,” I disputed, keeping my voice calm. I avoided looking at the two sisters, afraid that I would lose my cool and do or say something I would regret.

“Everything we said is the truth,” Tatiana countered. “Don’t lie to your boss.”

“The only person lying here is you,” I said, still maintaining my composure. “I don’t even know you two.”

“I had no idea this company was full of liars.” Tatiana stood up. “But I’m beginning to see that for myself.”

Christian looked horrified. “No. Our company is known for being honest,” he said, his voice almost frantic.

My brows drew together. The only other person I’d seen make my boss this uncomfortable was Alvise.
