“And you want me to believe you don’t have a hand in this? You!” I shook my head. “This is all too convenient to be a coincidence. I just want to be left alone! I don’t need this right now.”
I was spiraling, the words spilling out on their own accord with no desire to stop.
Before I could say something I would regret, I clamped my mouth shut and wiped away my tears. “I don’t care what or who’s responsible. I just want you to talk to your fiancée and sister-in-law and tell them to leave me the fuck alone,” warned. I would do anything for that job, and if it gets snatched from me, they wouldn’t want to see what a crazy unemployed girl can do.”
I turned around and walked out of his office without looking back.
As I headed for the elevator, his secretary sent me annoyed glances, but I wasn’t in the mood to entertain her.
I stopped at the elevator, pressed the button for the first floor, then got in. I rode in silence, my hands shaking until I nearly fumbled with the elevator controls when it finally reached the ground floor.
“What are you doing here!” a high-pitched voice snapped.
My eyes narrowed as I watched Tatiana approach me, with her sister trailing behind her.
“You ridiculous bitch,” I sneered. “I don’t know what you thought you were doing by trying to get me fired, but let me warn you, I won’t hold back. If I lose this job because of your pathologically lying selves, you will hate me.”
“We already do,” The sister said, stepping forward to glare at me.
“Don’t waste your breath on her, Viktoriya. She’s a lost cause.” Tatiana hummed, grinning widely.
Viktoriya sighed. “Of course, I know she is, but sometimes it’s great to teach the lost causes a lesson.”
“Keep running your mouths,” I snapped, glaring at them. “We’ll see how much that helps you very soon.”
I glanced at the security guards patrolling nearby and groaned inwardly. I was ready to yank their blonde hair straight out of their scalps, but I guess I’d have to make do with my words.
For now.
I tried to sidestep them, but Viktoriya grabbed my hand and stopped me. “Didn’t you hear her?” she sneered. “What are you doing here?”
I couldn’t believe it. I found it difficult to believe that they actually thought they could order me around.
I looked down at her hand holding my arm. “Let me go.”
“Not until you answer the question,” Tatiana chimed in, still smiling triumphantly.
“I came here to see your fiancé, just like your sister has been doing,” I said, my voice sickly sweet.
Tatiana’s smile faltered, and she hesitantly glanced at Viktoriya, surprise and confusion passing through her eyes.
Oh, so I hit a nerve.
She had no idea Viktoriya had been visiting Alvise?
Okay. I was going to capitalize on this new development.
Viktoriya released my hand in shock and glanced at her sister, her body suddenly tense. “She’s lying.”
I nodded. “Of course I am. Am I also lying about you eating with him at a restaurant?”

Viktoriya snapped her head in my direction. “You’re lying! Stop lying!” she yelled, her lips quivering with each word.
ared at her, amused.
Where was the sharp mouth and witty comments now? Was it nowhere to be found?
I tilted my head to the side. “Am I also lying about you rubbing on his arm…”
“Bitch!”
A sharp sting exploded across my cheek, jerking my head to the side.
