Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 174
“Why are you back?” I asked, watching her rummage through her drawers frantically.
She’d left a few minutes ago because her boyfriend had come to pick her up, so I was surprised to see her back in the office.
“I forgot our movie tickets in my drawer,” she said, sighing as she found them and pulled them out. “Are you still working?”
I shook my head. “No, but I’m not ready to go yet.”
Sierra nodded. “Okayyy, I’ll see you tomorrow, love. Bye again!” she said before rushing out.
I turned off my computer and fidgeted with my fingers. I was finding it hard to decide what to say to Alvise… Did I even need to say anything?
I knew he had to have had a hand in making sure the pictures weren’t published. He’d asked me what I wanted, and I’d told him I wanted everything gone… Did he really listen to me?
My stomach fluttered with unexplainable feelings, and I buried my head in my palm, confused and unsure of what to do with the emotions swirling inside me.
I was torn between believing he had made sure the fight didn’t show up on the Internet for me or if he’d done it for Tatiana. I mean… she had also been in the frame.
Huffing out a frustrated breath, I stood up, grabbed my bag, and exited my office. I walked outside the building, ready to order a cab when a familiar car caught my attention.
I frowned. That was Alvise’s car. What was he doing here?
I contemplated pretending I hadn’t seen his car and just going home, but something pulled me towards the parking lot, stopping beside his car.
I peeked inside, but it was empty. Shaking my head, I took a step back. What was I thinking?
I turned around, ready to leave, but paused when I spotted him walking out of the company, his phone pressed to his ear.
I swallowed, staying rooted to my spot.
“I don’t care how you get it done,” Alvise’s rich, accented voice said as he reached the car. “Just do it.” He ended the call and slipped his phone into his pocket, his eyes finding mine.

I bit my lip. His eyes travelled to them.
whispered, leaning against his car.
Alvise glanced at his wristwatch. “What are you doing here?”
I blinked. “I work here.”

He poked his inner cheek with his tongue, and my eyes followed the action. “I know. Why are you still here by this time?”
My gaze travelled to the floor. “I’m confused.”
I didn’t know how to act. It was the first time I was seeing him in a week. Since I’d told him I regretted our night together,. he’d kept his distance. Even taking me home had stopped, and we walked past each other like strangers/
I never thought I’d say it… but I missed him. The ironic part was that I knew there was nothing to miss. You could only miss what you’d had… probably all to yourself. And he had never been mine… never would be.
I was a little happy for the distance because I was still wary of him… of my suspicion about his involvement in Henry’s demise.
“Good thing I’m not your therapist,” Alvise said, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Now, move out of my way.”
His words hit me so hard that the fuzzy feeling disappeared. “I was going to leave anyway,” I gritted out. “And by the way. you’d make a terrible therapist.”
Alvise stroked his chin and nodded. “Terrible.”
My eyes widened at his nonchalance. “That’s not a good thing.”
He gave me a blank look and fetched his keys from his pocket. “Even better.”
Done with him and the conversation, I pushed off his car and made a move to walk away.
“Where are you going?” Alvise asked, unlocking his car.
“Home,” I said over my shoulder, already walking away.
“I’ll drop you off.”
I paused and turned back, my heart skipping its next beat. How long had it been since he’d said that? I hadn’t even realised that I’d been counting on it so much. “You… will?”
Our eyes clashed, and instead of replying, he got into the driver’s seat.
With shaky legs, I rushed to sit in the passenger seat before fastening my seatbelt. “Thank you.”
My words hung in the air as he started the engine and pulled onto the road. Unable to hold it in any longer, I glanced at him. Alvise’s eyes were fixed on the road as he manoeuvred the steering wheel calmly, just like he always did.
“Thanks,” I said, this time for something else.
He didn’t respond or show any indication that he’d heard me, so’ I continued. “I know you have something to do with the fight not making it to the Internet.”
Still, silence.
I sighed and rested my head against the headrest. He wasn’t going to respond to me. I was probably disturbing him.
