Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 178
I blinked. Was he talking to me?
Nervous, I shot to my feet and grabbed my things from the table. I stood there awkwardly, waiting for him to tell me what to do.
Alvise slipped his hand into his pocket and tilted his head to the side. “Did you not hear me?”
The guy beside me stood up. “You were talking to me, sir? I had no idea I…”
“This meeting is adjourned.” Alvise cut him off, then turned on his heel and walked toward the door.
My heart hammered in my chest as I looked around, trying to understand what was going on. The rest of the staff looked just as confused as I was.
Alyise stopped abruptly, and without turning around, ordered, “Arabella. My office. Now.”
Okay, what was going on?
I fidgeted with my purse and rushed out of the conference room, following behind him as he walked toward his office.
He reached there before me, and the moment I got in and shut the door, he spoke.
“What was that?”
“What… are you talking about?” I asked, standing awkwardly in front of his desk.
Alvise sat down in his chair and leaned back. “Is that why you didn’t come to my office? You were flirting with my statt?”
I choked on air, clutching my chest to regulate my abnormal breathing. “I… wasn’t flirting with him.”
He rubbed his hand over his jaw. “His hand was behind your chair. Why?” he asked, his’ tone bored, as if he was uninterested in the conversation, yet his eyes were narrowed.
“I don’t even know him. He just stood up and came to sit next to me. I said, unsure of why I felt the need to explain myself.
Alvise looked like he didn’t believe me, and somehow, that made me panic. What was he thinking? Now that I thought about it, the position we’d been in actually looked suggestive.
But why was it an issue?
“Why didn’t you report here before the meeting?” he asked, twirling a pen between his fingers.
I sighed. “Your secretary didn’t let me in because I didn’t have an appointment.”

“And you couldn’t call me.”
frowned. “I don’t have your contact…” I pursed my lips, realizing what I’d just said.
Alvise tapped the pen against the desk, the sound vibrating through the room as he held my gaze.
I had his phone number… but I’d blocked him four years ago.
Desperate to change the topic, I scratched the back of my head and asked, “Why did you adjourn the meeting?”
Alvise stroked his chin and cocked his head to the side. “You. I did it because of you.”
