Set Up, Coincidence?
ARABELLA’S POV
Gasps erupted around us, followed by whispers that quickly spread through the restaurant.

I looked around, goosebumps rising across my skin at the unwanted attention. People were glaring at me, while others looked at Tatiana with so much pity in their eyes, it felt like they were seconds away from rushing over to comfort her.
Tatiana’s continuous sobs made me turn my attention back to her.
“Excuse me?” I asked, staring at her tear-streaked face. “What are you saying?”
“You’re sleeping with my fiancé! You’re trying to ruin our relationship. What did I ever do to you?” Her Sobs grew louder, and people immediately started moving closer, gathering behind her like she was the victim of some terrible betrayal.
My brain went blank. I couldn’t believe this was happening. I couldn’t believe she was actually trying to set me up.
“What did you do to her?” A woman asked, stepping forward and reaching for Tatiana’s shoulder.
“I didn’t do anything to her!” I said, standing up.
“She betrayed me!” Tatiana cried, more tears spilling down her cheeks. “She’s our wedding planner, but she went behind my back to have an affair with my fiancé!”
“You’re a vile woman!” One of the onlookers spat, raining incoherent curses on me.
I flinched, taking a step back, shock and fear shaking me so badly my teeth nearly clashed together.
“She’s lying,” I tried to explain, but no one paid any attention to me.
“I know women like her. They’re jealous hoes!” A man said from behind me, making me jerk in shock.
Glancing back at Tatiana, I caught the ghost of a smile on her lips, but it disappeared as quickly as it came.
She planned this.
She wanted to embarrass me.
I turned around and darted for the door, desperate to get out of the restaurant. Tatiana looked convincing, crying like the perfect victim while I stood there as the villain in a story she’d carefully constructed.
I feared someone would actually try to hurt me if I didn’t get out as fast as possible.
“Yes! Leave, you dirty thing!” another person shouted, and then others picked up the insult, their voices following me as I rushed away.
Bile rose in my throat, threatening to spill out just like the tears staining my cheeks as I pushed the door open and stumbled out of the restaurant.
I rubbed my hands over my arms, taking deep breaths and forcing myself to exhale slowly, desperately trying to calm myself down. Having an entire room full of people calling you names and judging your character was humiliating, depressing, and completely overwhelming.
I couldn’t stop crying.
The names I’d been called… the way they’d looked at ine with such disgust… It was awful.
