Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 190
Rumed By My Brother’s Best Friend
“Have you had anything to eat today?” Archie asked, walking into the living room.
glanced at him and nodded, though he wasn’t looking at me. My relationship with Archie had never been more complicated. Ile barely spoke to me unless it was to check up on my health or make sure I’d eaten, and even then, he avoided eye contact.
The doorbell rang, snapping my eyes toward it.
“Who could it be?” Archie mumbled to himself before walking to the door and opening it. “Hey, man. I wasn’t expecting
you.”
I raised my brows, curious to see who it was.
“It would be weird if you were.” Alvise retorted, walking past Archie and into the apartment, and my curiosity immediately simmered down.
I dropped my gaze to my phone, biting my nails to keep my fingers from shaking.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw him walk all the way to the couch I was sitting on and take a seat.
“Were you bored in your office?” Archie asked dryly.
“I’m bored now.” Alvise replied, mirroring Archie’s tone.
“Whatever you do, don’t annoy my sister.” Archie warned before walking out of the living room.
Silence engulfed the room, the only audible sound being the cartoon playing on the TV.
Tired of the awkwardness, I grabbed the TV remote from the side table so I could change the channel.
“Don’t.”
I paused, my thumb frozen on the button of the remote as Alvise’s voice vibrated through the room.
“Don’t what?” I asked, not looking at him.
“Don’t change the channel.” He said firmly.
I scoffed. “I know you’re not watching this.”
“And what makes you so sure?”
“You don’t like cartoons.” I said confidently, surprising myself.
A knot formed in my stomach as my words settled around us. It was true. He hated cartoons, and I knew this because I’d heard him say it once when he followed Archie to take me to a cinema back in university.
“How do you know?” He inquired, a hint of surprise in his cold voice.
“I just know.” I whispered, not interested in revealing my obsession with him. Without wasting any more time, I started scrolling through the channels.
“Give me the remote.” Alvise demanded, a hint of impatience in his voice.
“Why?” I snorted, holding onto it tightly. “You can see that I’m using it.”
“Just give it, Arabella. There’s something I want to watch…”
My phone dinged, and I picked it up. It was a text from an unknown number. I frowned and opened the text.
10:42 Wed, Sep 9 MJO.

UNKNOWN: Check The News
ranched my face up. Why would an unknown number ask me to check the news?
Dread settled in my stomach, and with shaky fingers, I scrolled to a news channel.
“Arabella.” Alvise warned, his voice almost strained.
More determined than ever, I glanced at the screen. The air seized in my lungs, and my fingers flexed on the remote, releasing it and letting it shatter onto the floor.
On the screen was a picture of me covered in blood, and beside it was a picture of Christian and Theo’s bodies.
The headline read:
GOLD DIGGER WHO LED TYCOON, HENRY ASHFORD, AND HIS DRIVER TO THEIR DEATH
