ARABELLA’S POV

I kept my eyes glued to Sierra’s unconscious form in the backseat of the van, even though I was sitting in the front, which meant I constantly had to twist my neck almost every few seconds just to check on her.
“Whatever you’re doing, stop it.”
I froze, my head already turned as I glanced at her one more time before slowly letting my/eyes travel 6 Alvise behind the wheel. A small frown was etched across his face as he drove, his attention fixed on the
road.
“What?” I muttered, straightening out in my seat.

“You’ve turned around over eighty-five times.” He pointed out irritably. “Stop it.”
“Well, forgive me for caring about my best friend after you drugged her.” I scoffed. “I can’t believe you actually drugged her.”
“She was sedated, not drugged.”
“Same thing.”
“It isn’t.” Alvise breathed, sounding increasingly frustrated. “My men just needed to have her unconscious so we could move her out of there.”
My mouth hung open. “You let your men touch her?”
He glanced at me, his face blank. “You just accused me of doing it myself, and you sounded mad, and now when you find out I didn’t do it, you’re still mad.” He gave his head a little shake and mumbled something under his breath.
I rolled my eyes and turned to look at Sierra one more time. “I would have preferred it if no one actually laid a hand on her. And by the way?” I glanced at him. “Why did you need her unconscious to move her out? Was she fighting with your men?”
I didn’t know Sierra as someone who was violent, but she’d never been kidnapped before, so I wasn’t sure how she would react to it.
Alvise tapped a finger against the steering wheel. “No.”
\ “Then why?”
“She’s not following us to the apartment.” Alvise said casually.
“What!” My chest tightened uncomfortably. “Why wouldn’t she come with me?”
How was I supposed to function properly without her there after this crazy twenty-four hours? I wouldn’t have made it through the past two weeks if she hadn’t been with me, and now he wanted to keep us apart? Absolutely not.
I didn’t bother waiting for his reply. “She stays with me.” I gritted out. “Anywhere I go, she goes, and vice

versa.”

The corner of his lips tipped up, as if he was amused by my decision to go against him. “This isn’t a negotiation. We’ll drop her off at her apartment, and that’s it.”
I gasped in disbelief. “She’s unconscious! How can we just dump her…”
“She’ll survive.” Alvise cut in. “The sedative will start wearing off soon.”
There was no way I was going to be so cruel to my own best friend. “I’m sorry, but I can’t leave her like that, especially not after the crazy experience she had. She would need someone to talk to.. and I would
too.”
Alvise flicked his eyes to me for a tense second, and just when I thought he was going to accept, he said,
“No.”
I was pissed. “If you don’t want her knowing about your identity, it’s fine. We won’t talk about it.”
“I know you won’t.” He said, pulling the car to a stop.
I furrowed my brows in shock and finally decided to look around. My heart rate picked up, my palms suddenly damp. We were outside Sierra’s apartment building.
I frantically darted my eyes to Alvise. “No… please.”
Cold and unbothered, Alvise shook his head. “I don’t want anyone with a sharp mouth snooping around my apartment.”
I pursed my lips. “I have a sharp mouth too… you say that all the time.”
“Exactly,” he agreed. “I don’t want two of you turning my apartment upside down.”
Desperate to take Sierra with me, I leveled him with a challenging glare. “Last time I checked, you said you bought the apartment for me.”
Alvise raised a brow. “So, now you want to claim it? I thought you wanted nothing to do with it.”
I looked away, mentally cussing the guard who had rattled me out. I’d been so upset when one of his men approached me on the day he was supposed to leave and tried to get me to move into the new apartment. I’d broken into an outburst and said so many things out of anger.
I wasn’t aware the guard had actually been listening or that he would go and relay every detail of my rant ! to his boss.
Rubbing my palms together, I took a deep breath and cleared my throat. “I didn’t, but now I do, because Sierra will be in it with me.”
Alvise pulled his phone from his pocket and typed out a message before throwing it into the center console. “If you’re trying to convince me, save your breath.”
My face fell, and I got annoyed. I wasn’t even supposed to be begging him for anything. I never asked to go to his apartment, so he shouldn’t act like he was doing me a huge favor.
“Okay, then I’ll just stay with her like I have been all this while.” I announced, not bothering to hide the

op acting like I want you in that apartment so you can keep me company,” Alvise snapped coldly. “You weke kidnapped at a club. What makes you think they can’t kidnap you in an apartment?”
I had several questions, one of them being what he meant by “they,” since he had already killed them all.
My eyes held his, and I refused to back down. “I’ll be fine, and I can always just call the police..”
“And there she goes again.” Alvise scoffed. “You have no idea how useless the police are to you in this situation, so stop bringing them up.”
“How do you expect me to know when you’ve told me nothing?” I snapped. “If you don’t want to tell me, it’s fine, but I’m also not backing down. Sierra and I stay together.”
Tense silence, thick enough to suffocate me, filled the air. It was so quiet I feared he could hear my anxious heartbeat and the frantic thoughts racing through my mind.
After some time, Alvise started the engine again and pulled into the road, but just before I could sigh in relief, his next words unnerved me.
“You owe me for this, and I’ll collect that debt very soon.”
