Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 230
ARABELLA’S POV
I stared at him, my lips pursed and my blood boiling in my veins.
It was all an act.
He only acted nice so he could bring me here and treat me like shit.
I felt so betrayed and degraded that I didn’t care who he was or what disrespecting him meant.
“I don’t want to.” I snapped, bile rising to my throat as the feeling of dejection engulfed me.

Alvise nodded and glanced at his wristwatch before turning to the troop of guards behind him. “Bring her in.”
He was putting me in the hands of his guards now?
I glared at him, but didn’t say a word. I was no longer going to speak to him unless it was to cuss him out.
Alvise walked ahead, a hand slipped into his pocket as he strode confidently toward the front door.
I followed behind him with two guards on each side of me, like they needed four to take me down when I couldn’t even overpower them if I tried.
I heard murmurs behind me, beside me, and even in front of me, some from guards, others from what looked like female staff walking by, but I paid attention to none of it.
We walked through the front door, and my breath hitched immediately. It wasn’t because of how intricate and beautiful the house was, but because there was a gathering of people in the living room.
I dropped my gaze to the floor, too stunned and nervous to look anybody in the face or try to recognize
them.
I’d looked up Alvise’s family years ago when he first went back to Russia, but I’d given up halfway into the search because I’d seen a picture of him, and it made my heart ache.
Now I wished I’d never given up and had been more prepared.
“Brother!” A female’s voice, soft and with a notable trace of Alvise’s scent, called.
In a split second, she ran to Alvise and slipped her arm through his. “Where did you go? I missed you!”
She spoke with a sense of deep familiarity, and it surprised me. I never thought Alvise had a sister who felt so free with him, considering how arrogant and uptight the man was.
I didn’t hear a response from him, but his silence indicated that he wasn’t mad about it.
I could feel the weight of everyone’s gaze on me, probably pulling me apart bit by bit and reducing me to nothing.
Nothing worth their presence or the presence of their Pakhan.

Tatiana’s maid’s words rang in my ear, and it made me want to disappear.
and who is this?”

I looked up cautiously to see eyes almost as deep as Alvise’s watching me, her lips tipped up and her eyes twinkling with curiosity.
She looked to be my age, or a few years younger, and as she removed her hand from Alvise’s and stalked toward me, I didn’t know how to feel about her.
“Do you speak English?” She asked, her brows raised.
I raised my brows. This was definitely the first time I was having someone ask me that.
I refused to give her a reply to see if she would say anything in English about me just because she believed I didn’t understand it.
I flicked my gaze to Alvise to see him leaning against a wall, his ankles crossed and a stoic look on his face It was almost like he was waiting for something… or someone.
Otherwise, it made no sense for us to just stand here.
I swallowed hard. I didn’t feel good about this.
Heels clicked on marble, sharp and intentional, breaking the tense silence in the room and making my heartbeat faster.
“Doesn’t she talk?”
My eyes clashed with ones so brown and sharp, I sucked in a breath. She was beautiful, her hair styled in a ponytail to match the tweed skirt and jacket she had on.
She was middle-aged, and with similar features to Alvise and his sister, I didn’t need an introduction to know who she was.
His mother.
She tilted her head to the side and sighed before flicking her sharp eyes to Alvise. “Tell me, son, why would you bring a dumb girl home?”
I choked on air, clearing my throat. “I’m not dumb.” I blurted, the need to defend myself making me break my vow of silence.
“So you do talk.” Her sharp eyes softened a little before they were rid of any emotion. “Did my son kidnap you, or did you come here willingly?”
My eyes widened, my mouth hanging open in shock. She said it casually, like she was certain that was a fact.
“Why… do you think… he kidnapped me?” I found myself saying, my voice barely recognizable to me.
She smiled, but it was fake. One filled with a hint of pity. “Because that’s the only way you’d be dumb enough to come here.” Her eyes narrowed. “Are you the new maid…”

“Mother.” Alvise called, his voice so cold and authoritative it echoed through the room.
pushed off the wall and approached us, and relief flooded my veins. Unintentionally, I found myself scooting closer to him, my heart thumping at an alarming rate.
It was like I was in the middle of vultures, with no one’s intentions being clear and the only person I could trust was the one that threw me to them in the first place.
“How do you bring a girl home and not teach her the proper etiquette of the house?”
I stilled, all the muscles in my body tightening as the deep voice reverberated through the room, knocking the air out of my lungs.
I heard footsteps coming down the stairs, the sound alone similar to that of a giant descending. It sounded like an exaggeration, and I wished it was, but it wasn’t.
The footfalls continued until they got closer and closer, and then they stopped right in front of me. My. gaze was lowered, so all I could see were the shiny, polished black shoes.
I felt a piercing gaze on me, so slowly, I dared to look up, my face falling when eyes exactly like Alvise’s own met mine. But there was no spark; his eyes were as dead as what darkness was meant to be visualized
He was tall, towering over me with a deep scowl, and before I could finish analyzing him, he pulled a gun from his waistband and pressed it to my head.
“You have five seconds to get the fuck out of this property.”
