You Are My Problem

ARABELLA’S POV

“You really have no self control, do you?” I shot back, disturbed by her confession. “You think you can just go around throwing death threats?”

A dark smile appeared on her lips, and she clicked her tongue. “And what makes you think it’s just a threat?”

I really wanted to know what the issue was with her and Alexei and the way they casually spoke about death, specifically mine, like it was something they could easily do in the twinkle of an eye.

I could understand Alexei’s threats because he was Alvise’s dad, so I assumed they were a crime family with what I’d been able to gather just from being here for the past few hours.

What didn’t make sense to me was how freely Tatiana seemed to blend into it, throwing threats around and actually carrying them out. Was she from a crime family too, or had she simply accepted it because of her engagement to Alvise? I suddenly wanted to know.

“What are you waiting for?” Tatiana asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

I furrowed my brows. “Excuse me?”

“The packing.” She gritted out. “Get to it immediately.”

I dug my nails into my palm and resisted the urge to laugh in her face. She really thought she could order me around after what she did to me?

If not for Alvise stepping in and his connections with the officers, I would have been rotting in prison.

“You must be very sick, Tatiana.” I shook my head. “In fact, I can already see just how sick you are.” My eyes narrowed as I returned the harsh glare she was sending me. “I’ll advise you to take your leave because I’m not planning on packing…”

She reached forward and grabbed my hand before yanking me outside of the room and pushing me to the floor.

It felt like my soul left my body as my ass hit the marble floor, and a pained gasp escaped my lips.

“You’re telling me to leave my own fiancé’s room?” She breathed in disbelief, crouching down until she was eye level with me. “Did you lose brain cells, or are you just genuinely this dense?”

I ignored her, my chest heaving up and down as I tried to get up, but she forced me back down by pushing my shoulders.

I hissed. “What is your problem?”

“You! You’re my problem. I can’t seem to get you out of my hair.”

“I don’t want to get in your hair.” I snapped. “I don’t want to be anywhere near you.”

She grabbed my injured arm, like she knew exactly where it was, and squeezed tightly until I screamed in

pain, the air being ripped from my lungs.

But you seem to want to be in my fiancé’s hair, don’t you?” she mocked. “Or can you no longer run your mouth?”

Tears slipped from my eyes, the pain genuinely too much to handle. I tried to push her away, but the more I fought, the tighter her hold on my arm became.

I could feel my stitches rupturing all over again, and the thought alone made a choked sob escape my lips

The pain was too much.

I heard footsteps approaching, and I stilled, relief flooding through me at the thought of it being Alvise

I turned to look in that direction, but my face fell when I saw who it was. Blue eyes stared back at me, but this time, they were the dead, merciless ones.

Alexei’s eyes trailed from my face to Tatiana’s grip on my wound, which was now bleeding, and a satisfied look crossed his face.

Tatiana didn’t seem bothered by his presence and didn’t even look his way. If that didn’t tell me everything I needed to know, the way he smirked before walking away certainly did.

Disappointment filled me to my core, and I gagged, more at his reaction than at the pain I was being put through.

The man despised me so much that he didn’t care to step in when he saw his daughter-in-law-to-be quite literally trying to rip my arm off.

“Leave me alone, Tatiana,” I cried, pushing her hand away with my free hand.

“You don’t tell me what to do.”

“You’re hurting me.” I whispered weakly.

“Of course, that’s exactly what I want to do.”

Those words riled me up, and I mustered enough strength to kick her in the stomach, taking her by surprise as she pulled her hand away and wrapped it around her midrif.

Biting my lips to hold in my cries, I stood up, barely making it without falling on my face, and glanced down at Tatiana.

“You’re the most miserable woman I’ve ever met.” I told her, “and I pray you rot in hell.”

I flicked my gaze to her maid, who stood there quietly and acting innocent. From the moment she came to pack my clothes, I could tell she was a slimy bitch. What I never expected was the level of heartlessness she’d shown.

I shook my head and turned to walk back to the room, but didn’t make it far because Tatiana straightened up and grabbed my hand, pulling me back. “Not so fast. Where do you think you’re going?”

“Do you want me to kick you in the gut again?” I sneered. “Let me go!”

“I’m not fucking done with you.” She looked at my arm, and a satisfied smirk appeared on her lips. “But I can assure you that when I do finish, you’ll regret ever trying to step on my toes.”

I tried to pry her hands away, but she didn’t budge until her phone rang and her maid brought it to her.

With one hand still wrapped around my wrist, she accepted the phone and raised it to her ear.

Whatever the person on the other line told her made her let go of my hand and step back.

Tatiana glanced at her maid, panic flashing in her eyes. “Let’s go, Irina.” She said frantically.

Irina looked disappointed. “Why, madam?”

She swallowed hard and looked around. “He’s back.”
