Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend

Who Hurt You?

ARABELLA’S POV

As I watched Irina and Tatiana walk away, almost running as they tried to leave as fast as possible, my mind could only make out one person who could destabilize them like that.

Alvise.

With my arm bleeding and the pain still unbearable, I walked back to the room, holding in the tears that wanted to continue spilling out.

I could just cry, but I didn’t want to do it in front of him. If Alvise was really the one who had gotten back/ it meant he would come up to the room soon, but I didn’t want to talk to him or give him a reason to speak to me.

I spotted the first aid box in the room, grabbed it, and headed to the bathroom, locking the door just in case he wanted to get in.

I would clean my wound, wrap another bandage around it, then try to find a hospital that would redo my stitches.

Satisfied with my plan, I used a pair of scissors to tear off my dress because I couldn’t afford to pull it over my head, and then I gathered the courage to glance at my arm.

I looked away immediately, the sight too gruesome for me to stomach. I hated seeing so much blood, and it had gotten to a point where seeing it made me feel light-headed.

“Arabella?”

I froze, the iodine bottle in my hand almost falling from my grasp from how shocked I was as Alvise’s voice filtered into the bathroom.

“Are you in there?”

I refused to respond, and with shaky fingers, I tried to disinfect the area around my wound.

He tried opening the door, but he couldn’t, and that was when his angry voice made me hold my breath as he spoke. “Open the fucking door.”

“No.” I whispered, hoping he didn’t hear me.

He did. “I’m not going to ask you again, Arabella.”

“I need my privacy when having a bath. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.”

“You’re not having a bath.” He said coldly. “Now open the fucking door.”

I settled for not replying to him and proceeded to dab the iodine over the exposed flesh.

I winced so loudly that I shocked myself, making my mouth hang open as the sting shot through my arm.

“What are you doing in there?” Alvise asked impatiently.

Still ignoring him, I bit my lip and managed to stand through the biting sensation as I dressed the wound.

was about to wrap the new bandage I’d cut out over my arm when a loud thud hit the door and then andiher, until it came crashing down, making me jump.

“What the hell!” I hissed, dread settling in my stomach as Alvise strode into the bathroom, his angry eyes finding mine.

His eyes trailed from my face to my arm as he stalked towards me, and then he paused halfway to where stood.

“What happened?”

I shook my head and turned back to the mirror. “Nothing.”

“What do you mean nothing?” He snapped, his tone sending a nervous chill down my spine. “You ruptured your wound again.”

My eyes met his through the reflection, and I managed to hold his gaze for only a few seconds before I couldn’t take it anymore and lowered my gaze to the floor.

“What fucking happened?”

“I just fell.” I lied, looking back up and moving to continue with my task of wrapping the bandage.

Alvise closed the distance between us and gently turned me around to face him, bringing his face down to mine. “I hate it when you lie.” A dark look crossed his face. “Ask me why.”

I wanted to roll my eyes and give a snappy retort, but his eyes narrowed and a muscle in his jaw twitched.

This wasn’t the time.

With that in mind, I cleared my throat. “Why?”

“Because you’re a bad liar.” He brought his fingers to my chin and pulled on it lightly. “And because it means you’re testing my patience.”

I pursed my lips and didn’t say a word. What was I going to say? That his fiancée was the one who harassed

me?

He wasn’t going to do anything. Not a single thing, so what was the use?

I would rather he didn’t know than have Tatiana mock me for reporting her to him, yet having him not care enough to try to reprimand her.

Alvise’s grip on my chin grew tighter, drawing me out of my thoughts, and I bit my lip. “I told you already. I…”

“If that’s another lie, take it to your grave, Arabella.” He warned, his words sounding familiar, like something he’d said to me before.

I clamped my mouth shut, but I stared at him defiantly, waiting to see what he would do next.

Alvise stroked his chin, and without another word, placed both hands on my torso and hoisted me up. He

gently set me on the counter, then spread my legs and stepped between them.

Woes it hurt?” he asked, his voice considerably softer.

I nodded but said nothing else, and he didn’t seem to mind. His eyes assessed my wound again, and then he removed the bandage I was wrapping up and threw it into the bin.

I panicked, watching him. “What are you doing?”

He ignored me and reached into the first aid kit, bringing out a surgical needle and suture.

“Exactly what you think I want to do.”

I tried to jump off the counter, but he stood firmly between my legs, stopping me from moving.

“I don’t want to stitch it again, Alvise.” I complained. “It’s uncomfortable and…”

His fingers brushed mine on the counter, and I shivered, the touch almost throwing me off balance.

“If I don’t stitch it back, it will get worse in a few hours.”

“Isn’t there another way?” I asked, not ready to bear the pain.

“There is…. if you tell me who did this to you.” He said, his voice now serious and stern.

My stomach twisted uncomfortably, the blood running cold in my veins. “Are you really going to blackmail me?”

“It’s hardly blackmail.” He raised a brow. “But call it whatever you want.”

I glared at him, frustrated, and without thinking, I blurted, “You want to know so badly, right?” I tilted my head to the side. “It’s your fiancée! Now what?”

His jaw hardened, and a dark look crossed his face. Before I could process the switch, he turned around and started walking out of the bathroom.

“Then she’s not my fiancée anymore,” he muttered.
