Summary for Chapter 272: Ruined By My Brother's Best Friend (by Silverwriter)

Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 272

ARABELLA’S POV

Ivanov fell to the floor, a loud scream tearing from his throat as he clutched his leg.

I whipped my head to the side to look at Alvise, frantically looking him up and down to see if he was hurt.

He wasn’t.

My eyes dropped to the gun in his hand, and for the first time, I sighed in relief after seeing that he had it.

I couldn’t believe how much my life had changed. I would have never, in a million years, imagined that seeing a gun would make me feel relieved instead of making me run as fast as I could.

The adrenaline finally wore off, and the noises in the room made me flinch, the sight of some people rushing toward Ivanov to press their hands against his wound to stop the bleeding feeling overwhelming

“Are you hurt?”

I stilled, turning to look at Alvise and holding my breath when I caught his eyes already fixed on me.

I nodded. “I’m fine. What about you?”

His gaze lingered on me for a while before he answered. “I’m good.” He looked behind me. “Andrei.”

“Yes, Pakhan,” Andrei said, stepping forward.

“Take her to the car.”

My eyes widened. “What? Why?”

“I’m not done here, Arabella, and things have escalated,” Alvise muttered. “You could get hurt.”

“And you think I won’t get hurt in the car?” I rasped, the fear of being alone when the whole property was filled with criminals making me shudder. “What if someone shoots me in there?”

Alvise shot me a blank look. “Don’t be ridiculous. You’ll have guards with you.”

“But…”

“Take her to the car, Andrei,” he commanded before walking toward the small crowd that had gathered

around Ivanov.

Andrei pointed to the exit, directing me to leave the room. “Please walk out, madam.”

I hesitated, a pang of worry settling in my chest, but then I shook it off and walked toward the door.

I wasn’t supposed to be worried about someone who had disrespected me at the gala and then now asked me to be escorted out.

So, with Andrei trailing behind me, I walked out of the meeting room.

I didn’t get far before Tatiana appeared out of nowhere and blocked my path. “You were allowed into the meeting?” she asked in disbelief, glancing at Andrei and pointing at me. “Who let her in?”

I glared at her while she waited for him to respond.

He didn’t.

Tatiana frowned. “You think you can disrespect me now because the engagement got called off?” She snorted, looking between us. “Just wait till it all gets sorted. I’ll fire you!”

Curious to see what Andrei’s reaction was, I flicked my eyes toward him and raised a brow when I noticed how unbothered and relaxed he was.

The man didn’t give a fuck.

“Is my baby still in there?”

I returned my full attention to Tatiana and blinked. “Your ‘baby”?”

“Yes? Are you deaf?”

I dug my nails into my palm. “I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you, but I’ll need you to get the fuck out of my sight and stop asking me questions,” I said, trying to sidestep her.

Tatiana blocked my path again, her nostrils flaring. “Who do you think you are to speak to me like that?”

Normally, I would try to ignore her and be the bigger person, but that no longer applied to Tatiana.

If petty was a person, it was going to be me going forward.

“His wife.” I raised my hand, wiggling my ring finger like I’d done for Irina. “Didn’t your loyal ‘maid’ inform you?”

Tatiana’s face fell as she took in the sight of the ring, a dark look passing through her eyes. “It’s fake,” she spat. “Your marriage is fake.”

“Seems like you and your maid went to the same school of delusion.”

“He’s just trying to use you to spite me!” Tatiana seethed, her body shaking with anger. “Don’t get too carried away! He was engaged to me first. ME! Not you! So get off your high horse and see how he’s playing you!”

I tried not to let her words get to me.

I wasn’t supposed to care.

But with each second that passed, I realized that, unfortunately, I did.

She went low, so I decided to go lower. “So, was that also what it was for you? You were trying to spite him?”

Her eyes narrowed. “What do you mean?”

I smiled. It was as fake as Irina’s Hermès Oran sandals. “If Alvise is…”

“Why are you calling him by his name?” she snapped, gritting her teeth.

Haughed lightly. “My apologies. Let me try that again,” I said. “If my HUSBAND is with me to spite

you, did you sleep with his father to spite him?”

All the color drained from her face, and she took a shocked step back, her eyes moving from me to Andrei and then back to me, like she couldn’t believe I’d just said that out loud.

Something was definitely up.

I’d given her the benefit of the doubt and assumed someone who didn’t want her to get married to Alvise was trying to set her up, but looking at her now, it was clear as day that it wasn’t the case.

“You…” Her voice was now a harsh whisper. “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, but I do.”

“You don’t!” she snapped, her eyes full of rage as she glared at me. “So shut up!”

I cocked my head to the side. “Cat got your tongue? This is not the energy you came at me with. I mean, seconds ago, when you called my marriage fake, your voice was so loud.” I tapped my chin. “I wonder why it’s so soft and low now?” I said, tapping her shoulder. “You have something to hide?”

Tatiana grabbed my wrist and yanked me forward. “How dare you…”

Andrei stepped between us, releasing me from her grip. “Okay, that’s enough,” he said, pulling me away.

“You’re a home wrecker!” Tatiana yelled, making people gasp and whisper amongst themselves as they turned to look at us, their judgmental eyes fixed on me.

I bit my lip hard, almost drawing blood as I tried to contain my anger, but all of that was long forgotten when movement in a secluded corner caught my eye, and I had to blink twice, wondering if I was hallucinating.

My eyes clashed with a pair of familiar ones, and my heart stopped, a cold shiver racing down my spine as fear seized every inch of me.

It was Francesca.
