Never Seen Him Like This…

ARABELLA’S POV
I panicked, my pulse spiking as I ran toward William’s car, fearing for his life.
I felt Alvise’s presence before I saw him.
A door opened, and immediately, goosebumps prickled across my skin, the weight of his eyes already unnerving me even though I couldn’t see him yet.
Someone walked towards me. “Please, step aside, Madam.”
I looked up.
It was Andrei.
My eyes fell on the gun in his hands, and I almost fell to my knees, clasping my hands together. “Please… don’t
kill him.”
Andrei ignored my pleas and folded his hands behind his back. “I don’t want to use force, Madam, and I’m only following my boss’s orders, so please, step away.”
With no other option, I finally let my eyes travel to Alvise, my heart barely beating as my eyes clashed with his piercing blue ones.
He was eerily calm, not a single trace of anger evident on his face, and as always, that scared me the most.
I opened my mouth to speak, but he beat me to it.
“Andrei.” Alvise called calmly.
Andrei turned back. “Pakhan.”
“What the fuck are you waiting for?” Alvise inquired, his eyes darting toward the car.
“Madam is not giving me room to open the car…”
“Then shoot at the damn car.” Alvise cut in, his voice ice-cold.
I gasped, rushing toward him. “Alvise… please! Don’t kill him! I promise it’s not what you…”
“Get the fuck out of my face.”
My face fell, my heart sinking deep into my stomach, his tone filled with so much disdain that it made my fingers twitch.
My lips trembling, I tried again. “It’s… just wi…”
Alvise tilted his head to the side, a muscle ticking in his jaw. “Igor.”

Igor appeared at our side instantly. “Pakhan.”
“Take her to the fucking car.”
Igor grabbed my hands immediately, and without giving me a second to process any of it, he started dragging me toward Alvise’s Maybach in the middle of the cars.
“Igor?” Alvise called again, making him halt and turn around.
With his emotionless eyes fixed on his guard, he shook his head. “Not my car.” Alvise said, nodding toward the car behind his. “That one.”
My ears rang in disbelief.
He didn’t want me in the same car. He didn’t want to be close to me.
Ignoring the pang in my heart from his words, I screamed out pleas for William’s life. “Please don’t kill him. Alvise! He’s my friend! You know him, William…”
“What are you waiting for?” Alvise snapped, and that was all it took for Igor to drag me to the car and gently shove me into the backseat before shutting the door.
My stomach tightened in fear as I frantically peered through the window, my attention glued to William’s car as two guards used an iron rod to break it open, and without any mercy, they dragged him out of the car.
In a split second, Alvise walked up to him and punched William so hard across the face that he fell back onto the ground, hissing sharply.
I shrieked, my hands shaking as I watched them in horror.
I’d never seen Alvise get into a physical fight… and watching him kick William in the stomach, I realized I’d never seen him this pissed.
He spoke in a dangerously low tone, too low for me to hear, but whatever he said made William stagger to his feet and try to land a punch.
It backfired, and Alvise broke his jaw, sending him crashing onto the ground again.
I shut my eyes, pressing them tightly together and turning away, refusing to put myself through the torture of watching them fight.
I had to do something.
But what? I was helpless.
I shouldn’t have gotten into the car with William and brought him into all this.
I never actually planned to run away tonight. I just wanted to get a breath of fresh air because I wasn’t delusional enough to think Alvise wouldn’t catch me.
The sound of doors opening and closing made me snap my eyes open, turning back toward the window.

They were no longer standing by William’s car, and when I turned back, I saw Simeon and Igor shoving William into the car behind me.
1 yelped when my door suddenly opened and Andrei got into the car, the tension radiating off him making me scoot closer to the door.
“What… are… you people going to do… to him?” I stuttered, forcing the words out, desperate to know.
Andrei glanced at me, his eyes as emotionless as Alvise’s, but even worse, I saw nothing but anger in them… for me.
“Whatever the Pakhan wants,” Andrei said, shrugging his shoulders.
I swallowed hard, my throat feeling even drier afterward. “And if he wants you to kill him…”
Like it was the most stupid question in the world, Andrei gave me a blank look. “I’ll kill him.”
I shuddered, running my hands through my hair. “Where is Alvise?” I asked, looking around. “Please, I want to talk to him. I…”
“That won’t be possible.”
I frowned. “Why…”
“I don’t think he’s in the mood to speak to anyone… let alone you.”
His words were meant to hit me right in the face.
And they did just that.
I nodded, leaning back against the seat and twisting my fingers. “He’s pissed.”
“That would be an understatement,” Andrei muttered, his voice hard at the edges.
I stared at him, and after a few seconds, I puffed out an exhausted breath. “You dislike me.”
Andrei glanced at me. “Correct. I dislike anyone that makes the Pakhan’s life difficult.”
I frowned, furrowing my brows. “I make his life difficult?”
It was the most unbelievable thing I’d heard in my life, and all it did was throw me into a depth of dreadful thoughts.
“You have no idea of the things he has done to keep you alive, or the rules he’s bent because of you,” Andrei said spitefully, like the thought of it alone pissed him off.
My breath stopped, and all I could hear were his words repeating in my head, my fingers flexing on my lap.
He saved my life several times… I knew that. But bending rules for me… I was lost.
“And if you don’t want the fucking marriage,” Andrei snapped, breaking the tense silence, “I can ship you back
