Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 303
Rum By My Brothers Best Friend
Mistress?
ARABELLA’S POV
“Mistress?” I raised a brow, leveling Viktoriya with a glare.
She sighed, shaking her head pitifully. “Yes… The one woman he can’t get out of his head…” She wiped a fake tear from her eye. “… And keeps going back to. That, my dear, means he’s attached, and it’s not just about having fun anymore… he wants to be with her… only her.”
I felt a pang in my chest, hard and poisonous, making it ache so much that I took in deep breaths to calm myself down.
“But of course,” Viktoriya chuckled, tilting her head to the side. “I’m just speaking hypothetically,” she said. shrugging. “That’s what happens in the Bratva, you know. The men here just can’t control themselves.” Viktoriya tapped my shoulder, leaning close to whisper, “And it’s usually worse for the top men… like the Pakhans…”
“Get. Your. Hands. Off.”
“Damn, calm down and get it together,” she rasped, snatching her hand away.
I dug my nails into my palm, struggling to push everything she’d said into a black hole in my memory.
I should know better than to take Viktoriya’s words seriously, but it wasn’t that easy to ignore everything she’d implied.
Not when Alvise had already put doubts in my mind with his answer to my question barely an hour ago.
“Get out of my face,” I snapped, forcing myself out of my thoughts.
Viktoriya laughed hysterically but moved to the chair next to mine anyway.
I sat down a little harder than necessary, sighing in relief when the maids walked to the table with trays of food.
I needed the distraction.
I heard approaching footsteps, and if that didn’t confirm that Alvise was heading to the table, Viktoriya struggling to rise to her feet sealed it.
“Pakhan!” she said softly. “I’ve been waiting for you.”
I rolled my eyes, twirling a strand of my hair as I went through all the possible ways I could escape eating with them.
There was none.
I felt Alvise walk closer, his cufflinks sparkling with each step he took.
“I wasn’t expecting you,” he said, his deep, cold, voice reverberating in the room.
“I’m sorry,” Viktoriya apologised, sounding flustered. “I was driving by and just thought of coming for lunch.”
" You’re always conveniently driving by,” I mumbled absentmindedly, my eyes fixed on the pot roast in front of me. “The last time, you came for breakfast, now lunch.” I scoffed, shaking my head. “I’m struggling to determine if you’re just obsessed with this house… or broke.”
“There’s plenty of food at my house!” she snapped, warming the side of my face with a sharp glare.
“I’ll believe you when you start eating there.”
“I don’t have to prove anything to you.”
“Not that I will believe it, anyway, but go on,” I muttered, reaching for my cutlery and filling my plate with, some pot roast and crusty bread.
“You…”
“That’s enough, Viktoriya,” Alvise commanded firmly, cutting her off.
The table seemed to still, silence falling over every corner of the room.
Alvise sat down at the head of the table, right next to me, while Viktoriya grudgingly took her seat.
I didn’t wait for either of them before I started eating, shoving a slice of beef into my mouth.
Viktoriya gasped, drawing my attention to her as she closed a hand over her mouth.
“You’re not supposed to start eating before the Pakhan gives permission to do so!”
