Disrupting The Alliance
ANVISE’S POV
“P…akhan… we weren’t expecting you.”
I lowered my gaze to the short, bald-headed doorman, who was shaking like a leaf as he held the door
open.
“Get out of my face.”
And he had exactly twenty seconds to do that before I no longer had any use for his life.
Not that I ever did in the first place.
“Pakhan… there’s a meeting going…”
“I said, get out of my face,” I repeated calmly, a total contrast to how fucking pissed I was.
“Sir…”
Fifteen seconds.
I couldn’t wait any longer.
I snatched my gun from my waistband, attached the silencer, and shot him right in the middle of his empty head, watching as he dropped to the floor, his eyes wide open.
“Boss, he’s been the doorman for a while now,” Andrei muttered in amusement as he moved forward and crouched down to check the dead fool’s pulse.
He looked up and shook his head. “There’s no pulse.”
“Were you expecting one?” I scoffed, returning my gun to its holster. “Or have you also lost brain cells?”
Andrei lowered his gaze and shook his head. “I was trying to lighten the mood.”
“And what are you? A clown?” I stepped over the body and shot Andrei a stern look. “Clean this up and tell Igor to have my hand sanitizer ready in the car. I might be getting my hands dirty.”
I climbed the rusty stairs, heading toward the secret meeting room, but Andrei caught up to me.
“Pakhan, you asked the guards to wait outside,” he said, crossing his hands behind his back. “Is there a
reason?”
“I don’t want any unnecessary baggage up there. They must wait there.”
He looked down at the lifeless doorman and then back to me. “You just gave me a task, Pakhan. Can I hand this over to them?”
“No.”
“I won’t be able to follow you up if I’m occupied, boss.”

I resumed walking up the stairs. “That is the point, Andrei. I’m going up alone.”
hands twitched at my sides with each step I took, and my mind struggled not to stray back to my conversation with a certain green-eyed woman barely an hour ago.
A muscle in my jaw twitched, and I swiped my thumb across it, scraping my tongue over my teeth.
Emotions.
I didn’t know how to fucking handle them.
And I didn’t want to.
Not when I risked revisiting every messed-up event that led to my disgust for the brotherhood I was now ironically, the leader of.
I wasn’t a man who dared entertain emotions… especially ones that had nothing to do with anger and darkness.
I could give her anything.
Any damn thing.
But what she really wanted was too expensive. We would never be able to go deeper than this, or else I would be digging up a monster I’d buried deep within the darkest corners of my soul.
I slowed to a stop in front of the large wooden doors meant to conceal the cunning meeting that was currently taking place in the building.
Without thinking twice, I kicked the door over and over again until it came crashing down onto the floor.
It wasn’t the main door.
Yet.
I could hear shocked gasps and muffled voices erupt from the main room as I walked through the makeshift workshop and stopped at yet another door.
I pushed the door, knowing full well that it would be open.
And it was.
“Alvise… Wh…at… are…” My so-called father, the first face I recognised at the table, stuttered as he rose to his feet. “… you doing here?”
I leaned against the wall, rolling my gun between my fingers. “The next time you call me by my name, I’ll have the pleasure of putting the lights out of your eyes.”
Alexei slammed his mouth shut and sat back down, dropping his gaze to the floor.
He looked like he’d seen a ghost.
And as I looked around the room, registering every single face present, I realised they all wore the same expression.

Of course they fucking did.
vanov,” I said pushing off the wall and walking to the table, tapping the moron on his shoulder. “Why are you trying to hide your face? I already saw you.” I made eye contact with the other dimwits. “Every single one of you.”
“It’s not what you think,” Ivanov mumbled, shaking like a leaf. “We’re just here to talk business
I narrowed my eyes and fisted his collar, squeezing it around his throat. “I don’t remember saying it
wasn’t.”
He coughed, clapping his dirty hands over mine and trying to loosen my grip on his throat. “Please… let… me… go. I… can’t… breathe.”
“That’s the point,” I hummed, tightening my grip for a few more seconds before releasing him.
I needed that sanitizer already.
I watched, satisfied, as he hit his head on the table while trying to catch his breath and hissed in pain.
Poking my inner cheek with my tongue, I fixed my attention on the rest of the men present in the room.
“There are a total of eight of you here, and I know there are more, but I will pretend this is all there is, for now,” I said, the corner of my lips lifting. “So enlighten me.” I walked to the head of the table, my eyes fixed on Alexei. “What dream did he sell to all of you to give you the audacity to form an alliance against my rule?”
The room fell silent, the murmurs dying down and the delusional fools freezing like I’d accused them of doing something they weren’t actively doing.
“I didn’t sell any dreams to them,” Alexei said, shaking his head. “And this is not an alliance… I…..”
