Angry green eyes locked with mine, a small frown marring her dainty lips as my wife walked fully into the study, her gold lace dress hugging every inch of her curves.

She’d worn a different one this morning.

And now this.

If this was some sort of punishment, she was damn good at it.

Tatiana turned, her shoulders sagging as Arabella approached her.

“What are you doing here?” my wife asked, raising a brow.

“I didn’t come to see you.”

“But you came to see my husband, so technically, you came to see me.”

“I don’t owe you an explanation…”

“Careful, Tatiana,” I cut in, tossing the pen onto the table. “I don’t particularly like anyone disrespecting her. I can’t tolerate it.”

“But, Pakhan, I…”

“Careful.”

She snapped her lips shut, dropping her gaze to the floor and mumbling under her breath.

I didn’t care.

I glanced at my wife, watching as she focused all her attention on Tatiana, as though I were a speck of dust she couldn’t be bothered to entertain.

“You were going to say something before I walked in,” she said, folding her arms. “Continue.”

Tatiana rose from the chair. “I don’t feel like talking about it anymore.”

“And why is that?” Arabella scoffed. “You don’t want me present?”

“Yes, I don’t.”

I stroked my chin, observing the scene in front of me.

I had no idea what stupid story Tatiana had cooked up in her head and chosen to run with, but I didn’t need to hear it to know it was fake.

And whatever night she was talking about didn’t exist.

I hadn’t fucked another woman since that night with Arabella.

Never even got close.

“Then leave. If you have nothing to say, I don’t see what you’re still doing here,” my wife instructed, brushing past Tatiana and taking a seat in the chair.

“I was already doing that,” Tatiana gritted out, her eyes veering towards me. “We’ll…” She licked her lips, batting her eyelashes. “Talk about this later…”

“I have no plans of doing that,” I stated firmly. “And this should be the last time you step foot into my study. The last.”

She rushed out of the room, sniffing and sobbing loudly.

I didn’t give a fuck.

“Hello, husband.”

I snapped my eyes to the woman in front of me, tilting my head to the side.

She looked like a fantasy stripped from the pages of a sinner’s wildest, most unattainable desires.

Everything about her appealed to me.

I still hated it because I found myself doing things to please her.

To bring that unnerving flush to her face and watch her try to hide it.

She was like light trying to force its way into my dark depths, tearing apart every wall, boundary, and rule I’d ever set in place.

A disturbance to my peace, yet one I found myself seeking out.

She was everything I didn’t need, yet I could never imagine living a life where she didn’t exist.

I was doomed.

And the green-eyed woman in front of me was the root of it all.

I scraped my tongue over my teeth. “Hello, wife.”

Arabella twirled a strand of her hair, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “You don’t look happy to see me.”

“I’m not,” I said, nodding towards the stack of files in front of me. “You’re a very lethal distraction.”

My wife faked a gasp and placed her hand on her chest. “Me?”

“You,” I hummed, my gaze trailing down to the damn dress she had on. “You know what you’re doing, don’t

you?”

She shrugged innocently. “I don’t believe I know what you’re talking about, husband.”

“What do you want, wife?”

“I thought you’d never ask.” She stood up, planting her hands on the table and leaning down, giving me a view of her chest.

“I want your card.”

I stroked my chin. “My card? Which of them?”

“Preferably one with no limit,” she muttered, flashing me a smile. “I have some creative ideas for it.”

I reached into my pocket, pulled out my wallet, and tossed it onto the table.

“Pick any one you want.”

Her delicate fingers traced the edges of my wallet before she picked it up and zipped it open.

“Anyone I want?”

I watched her every move, her nails tapping against my cards until she settled on one and pulled it out.

“I like this one because it’s dark,” she said, tossing my wallet back at me. “Like your heart.”

The corner of my lips tilted up, and this time, I didn’t bother wiping the smirk away.

“You made the right choice.”

Arabella twirled the debit card in her hands, bringing it to her nose and sniffing it. “It smells just like you,” she pointed out. “How does everything smell like you?”

“Do you like it?” I asked, raising a brow.

She walked to the door before turning back to look at me. “Tell me your PIN first, and I’ll answer your question.”

“Two. Nine. One. Six,” I said, poking the inside of my cheek with my tongue. “Now, an answer to my question. Do you like it?”

Arabella cocked her head to the side. “I do… A little too much.”
