Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 44
I believed her. I was not his type because, if I was, he’d probably never have let her speak to me like this.
“You’re right,” I said, but this time, in a taunting voice. “But for someone who seems to know everything, you should’ve known those Louboutin heels are fake.”
She glanced down at her shoes and glared at me, her cheeks heating with embarrassment. “How would you know?” she shot back, her voice lower this time.
“Fashion editor here,” I said, giving a little wave and pouting to mock her. “Trust me, I know.”
“Well, that’s my personal shopper’s fault, not mine,” she whispered, trying her best not to let Alvise hear. “I had no idea.”
The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on me. She had confidently called me a liar for something that was someone else’s fault, yet now she was in a similar situation.
I folded my arms and shook my head. “You’re lying,” I said, throwing her own words right back at her.
Her gray eyes narrowed, and she took another step closer until her breath fanned my face. “I’m beginning to really dislike you, and trust me, you never want me to dislike you.” Her tone was threatening, like she was trying to warn me.
I rolled my eyes. “That monologue would’ve really scared me back when I gave a fuck.” I glanced at my wristwatch and shook my head. “But now’s not the time. I. Don’t. Care.”
“I’m trying to work here,” Alvise cut in, his voice so cold and hard that I almost shivered. “Whatever is going on, I want it out of my office.”
I sidestepped the blonde Russian so I could see Alvise. His narrowed eyes were fixed on me.
I smiled bitterly, digging my nails into my palm. He’d stood there and listened to her degrade me, but the moment I finally defended myself, he suddenly wanted to work.
“Get. Out,” he gritted impatiently.
I tipped my chin up and scoffed, turning around. “Gladly.”

His Unwanted Presence
ARABELLA’S POV
“I’m glad you made it!” Archie said, ruffling my hair and taking the box of chocolates and bottle of wine from my hands
I grinned. “Of course I did!” I ruffled his hair too. “Anything for my crazy brother. Now, are you going to get out of the way. so I can come in?”
Archie rolled his eyes and turned around, walking toward the dining table and dropping the gifts I’d brought onto it. “You’re still dramatic, I see.”
I shut the door behind me and flicked my hair. “It’s my pleasure to remain consistent.”
“So, where’s everyone?” I asked, looking around. “Don’t tell me I’m that early.”
It was all worth it when I saw Archie scrunch up his nose and pull me back to his side. “Keep your hands to yourself, Kelvin. She’s a baby.”
Kelvin rolled his eyes. “Yeah, a twenty-five-year-old working baby
Archie nodded and pulled me past his friends. “Yeah. Exactly.”
I chuckled lightly at their banter, a wide grin on my face. I only entertained Kelvin because I loved how dramatic Archie became afterward.
“You’re such a diva,” I said to him as he pulled me toward my seat on the large couch. More than half of it was occupied, but there was enough space for me if no one else showed up, and I hoped that was the case because I loved my space.
“Aren’t you, like, thirteen? I’m protecting you,” Archie said.
“No, I’m, like, twelve.” I rolled my eyes. “Like I said, you’re a diva.”
iting contentedly, I finally took the time to look around the room. It was huge, with large plush couches, bean bags, and even a bed. Then there was the giant TV Archie had bought last Christmas. A handful of his friends were there, along with Francesca and a few of hers..
“Hi!” she waved, beaming brightly. “You finally made it. Oh, and you look pretty! Silk dresses are just your thing!”
I waved back, mine half-hearted and effortless. “I did!” I forced a smile. “Thank you! You look good too.”
