Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 69

My gaze drifted down to his navy suit, and the corner of my lips lifted. “This is the second time you’ve worn a navy suit,” 1 observed, unable to look away.

The color almost blended with his eyes, and there was something about that rare touch of color compared to his usual black

suits.

He slipped a hand into his pocket and tilted his head. “You’re counting?”

I bit my lip to stop the blush creeping onto my cheeks. “What if I am?” I asked, refusing to back down in embarrassment.

Alvise was good at playing mind games, and the only way to gain even the slightest advantage over him was to be shameless.

As ridiculous’as that sounded.

He took a step closer, amusement dancing in his eyes. “Then I wouldn’t know what to do.”

His answer caught me off guard, making me instinctively take a step back, “What to do?”

The moment the question left my mouth, I tensed. It was the second question I’d asked him.

He didn’t seem to mind.

Alvise stroked his chin and took another step forward. I stepped back, but he followed. Again and again, until my back was trapped between him and the car behind me.

“What to do with you,” he replied, a mysterious edge threading through his voice.

I bit my lip without thinking. His eyes followed the movement, lingering there for a brief moment before lifting back to my face.

My own gaze dropped to his lips. I stared, maybe a little too long, because the corner of his mouth curved upward ever so slightly.

My eyes snapped back to his, only to find a smug look waiting for me. I didn’t like it.

He’d caught me staring. And now he was enjoying it. I definitely didn’t like that, so I leaned forward until the toe of my heel bumped against his shoe.

E in my six-inch heels, he towered over me, forcing me to tilt my head back just to meet his eyes.

“I don’t know what look you gave my boss that made him change his mind about dropping me off,” I said, “but I’m hungry and I need to go get food,” I shook my head, “And now I suddenly don’t feel like ordering a ride anymore.”

Fueled by a sudden wave of confidence I didn’t know I possessed, and an even stronger desire to gain the upper hand, slowly placed one heel on top of his shoe… Then the other.

I was standing on both of his feet, but Alvise didn’t move. He didn’t even flinch.

He simply watched me, his eyes tracking every deliberate movement I made.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and drew my face closer to his, then I leaned close enough for my breath to brush his ear and whispered, “So… you’re going to take me home.”
