Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend
Stuck With Him
ARABELLA’S POV
A flicker of confusion crossed his face, and he tilted his head.
“My girlfriend?” he asked, his tone lazy around the edges.
I cocked my head to the side and scoffed. “What? That guest room is literally stocked with women’s stuff.”
He took a few steps back and leaned against the kitchen island. “And?”
Was he seriously asking me that? “And what? Are you going to tell me those are your sister’s clothes?” I snapped.
I had just blurted it out. I didn’t even know if he had a sister.

His response confirmed that he did. “No, they’re not,” he said nonchalantly, as though we were discussing the weather.
I bit my lip and leveled him with a glare. “Then do you get what I’m trying to say now?” I shook my head. “I’m not sleeping in your girlfriend’s…”
“I don’t have a girlfriend,” he said, cutting me off.
My pulse quickened and a confused frown creased my face as I processed his words. Unwanted anticipation, something dangerously close to hope, rose inside my chest.
Then, he crushed it. “I have a fiancée,” he said, picking up his plate and turning away. “And you’re right. Those things belong to her.”
Pajn unlike anything I’d felt before ripped through me and slammed into my chest.
It hit so hard I gripped the edge of the counter just to steady myself. To hear him say it so casually… It hurt. And maybe I was a terrible person for feeling this way about another woman’s fiancé… But it was tearing me apart.
I hopped off the counter and smoothed down my dress. “Alright, then.” My voice came out calmer than I felt. “I’m glad we could agree on that,” I said dryly. “Now, please open the elevator…”
“You’re not leaving,” he interrupted, sitting back down on the kitchen stool and resuming his meal.
“I’m tired of going back and forth,” I said, my mood turning even darker. “I don’t understand why I can’t leave.”
He took another bite before answering. “You can’t leave because it’s late. And first of all, I’m not your chauffeur,” he said, his tone clipped. “So if you’re leaving here, you’ll be hiring a cab.” He shrugged. “And I don’t want your brother calling my phone if something happens to you.”
I rolled my eyes. “Archie doesn’t even know I’m here.”
Alvise’s gaze met mine. “He does.”
No… No! If Archie knew, then Francesca knew too.
Worry ignited in my chest. “You told him?”
Alvise finished his food. “Yes, I did.”
My face fell, and my already sour mood worsened. If Francesca already knew I was in Alvise’s home, she was going to spiral.
Anxiety surged through me and I grabbed the pizza box and the rest of the food from the counter before sitting on the stool
