Chapter 17 There Must Be a Limit
Thalia knew Alden’s temperament too well. A petty man like him would never let Tyren go, even if she apologized.
Besides, Josephine and Kiera were the ones who ganged up on her first. Why should she apologize? They were the ones who should apologize.
Alden’s tone was impatient. There was even a hint of suppressed anger. “Thalia, that’s enough. You’re being unreasonable.”
Was she being unreasonable?
Thalia laughed. Everything she ever did was unreasonable in his eyes.
It didn’t matter. They were divorcing, anyway. How he judged her no longer mattered.
Yet, she still feared that Tyren might face retaliation. After all, she had witnessed many of his tactics for dealing with rivals, having worked alongside him for all these years.
Now, the Marquette family had fallen, and they were nowhere near capable of fighting him head–on. The only leverage she had was her value to Crestfall Group.
“I’ll make sure that you get the Chromia Retreat project. But don’t you dare lay hands on Tyren.” With that, she strode away.
Shortly after, Kiera walked in and closed the door behind her. She walked over to Alden and sat directly on his lap before gently touching his bruised cheek. “Does it still hurt?”
He caught her hand and kissed it lightly. “Not anymore.”
“It breaks my heart.” Her eyes brimmed with tears. “How could that useless man hit you like that? Look at your face. We absolutely can’t let him off.”
There was a flicker of hatred in Alden’s eyes. “Of course not. But this isn’t the right time. We should wait.”
Family was Thalia’s bottom line. Although Tyren was adopted, their bond had always been close.
Thalia couldn’t put her phone down and kept calling Tyren when he disappeared on her wedding day. She would fly in a rage if Alden laid hands on Tyren now.
The Chromia Retreat project was at such a critical stage that he couldn’t afford anything to go wrong.
Kiera had overheard Alden telling Thalia to apologize when he stood at the door earlier, but Thalia refused. She couldn’t
accept it.
“Look at her. She dared to talk back to her mother–in–law, and it seemed she was trying to test us earlier. I have a feeling that she might have found out about something.”
Alden dismissed the idea. “With her petty personality, she would’ve run crying to Grandma if she knew anything.”
Kiera realized he was right after thinking about it and immediately felt relaxed. She wrapped her slender arms around his neck and leaned down to kiss him. “Aldy, I want you.‘
Her physical desire had intensified significantly now that she had entered her second trimester. She would have explicit dreams during the night and frequent daytime urges.
Alden left the house in a hurry last night and was covered in injuries when he returned. So, Kiera could only hold back her desire.
However, her heart fluttered while sitting on his lap, and she could feel her panties growing damp.
She grew increasingly hot and restless. She kissed Alden as she undid his shirt buttons frantically with one hand while her body writhed uncontrollably. She pulled down her straps, revealing half of her soft breast.

Alden’s eyes reddened from desire as he eagerly touched her nipples with his large hands. His other hand slid beneath her skirt and felt the heated and damp fabric. He murmured hoarsely, “Oh, Kiki, you’re made of water.”
“Do you like it?” Kiera’s voice was dripping with seduction, stirring an irresistible longing within him.
His hand stirred within her as he sucked on her soft breasts and said in a hoarse voice, “I like everything about you.”
