Chapter 21 Can’t Hide Anything From Him
Maria beamed with joy. “Mr. Marquette is finally home. I’m coolding a feast tonight. I’ll call you all when it’s ready,”
“Alright, I’ll head upstairs first,” Thalia said before going upstairs.
Just as she was about to knock, the study door swung open from the inside. Stanford and Tyren walked out side–by–side.
“Lia, you’re back–just in time. I just talked with Tyren about the company’s situation. He’s agreed to return and help. With both of you working together, Marquette Group will definitely grow stronger,” Stanford sald happily. There was a smile on his face that Thalia hadn’t seen in ages.
Thalia realized she couldn’t even remember the last time she’d seen her father this relaxed.
She hooked her arm through his. “You’re right, Dad. Marquette Group will come back stronger than ever. But first things first, we’re celebrating tonight. Tyren’s home, and our family is finally together again.”
“Indeed. A good day deserves a good drink. Tyren, you and I are having at least two rounds tonight,” Stanford said, lightly slapping Tyren on the shoulder.
Thalia chimed in excitedly, “I’ll drink with you.”
Thinking of the previous night’s disaster, Tyren patted Thalia’s head with a helpless sigh. “Zeta already prepared a whole spread. You just stick to the food.”
Thalia instantly knew what he meant. Her drunken performance the night before must’ve really traumatized him.
But it was a celebration. How could she not drink? She held up a finger and whined playfully, “Just one glass. I promise.”
Right then, Maria came to call them for dinner, and the three headed downstairs to the dining room. Maria had anticipated Stanford’s good mood, and she had already prepared the wine.
Tyren picked up his glass and stood. “Dad, Lia, I know the past few years have been rough on you. From today on, I’ll do everything I can to bring Marquette Group back to where it should be.”
Tears welled in Stanford’s eyes. “Hearing you say that makes every year I held on worth it. Cheers.”
The three clinked glasses. Tyren downed his drink in one gulp. Thalia had learned her lesson, so she only took a small sip.
After they sat down again, Thalia thought of something and turned to Tyren. “You still haven’t told me where you’ve been all
these years.”
Stanford had already gotten the story, so he answered for Tyren. “Lia, Tyren found his biological family. There were some emergencies on their side, so they didn’t have a chance to say goodbye back then.”
Thalia’s eyes widened in surprise. “Really? That’s amazing!”
Tyren never said it out loud, but Thalia had always known he wanted to find his biological family. For years, Stanford had been quietly digging into Tyren’s past. But because of how long it had been and the lack of clues, he couldn’t find much
information.
Now that Tyren had finally found them, Thalia felt genuinely happy for him.
“Where do they live? What are they like?” Thalia asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
Tyren remained as patient as ever. He placed a piece of roasted chicken on her plate and answered, “They’re from Joseville. They’re very easygoing people, and they treat me well.”
“Did they come with you to Yebaku City?”
