Chapter 45
“Let’s go, Layla,” Stella said and headed back to her room with Layla in tow.
They could hear Tristan speaking warmly to the person on the other end of the line. “Tris, I miss you so much.”
Layla looked quite upset. She tried her best to control her emotions as she closed the door and
said, “He’s not letting you live with us.”
Stella slowly sat down on the edge of the bed. “Lily and Freya probably won’t have the guts to do anything to me from now on.”
“He’s from a prestigious family, and yet he’s so openly cheating on his pregnant wife. If word of this gets out, his reputation will be in shambles,” Layla said.
“Okay. That’s enough, Layla,” Stella said in a rush.
Their family definitely wouldn’t be able to bear the consequences if Tristan’s reputation was ruined if people found out that he was being unfaithful.
Layla knew that she had spoken out of line. She tempered her emotions before saying, “I’ll prepare some warm water for you to soak your feet.”
“Okay.” Stella moved to the couch that was placed in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. She
looked at the snowflakes that were floating down from the sky, wondering if everything would be

Just then, she saw a sports car coming out from the garage and disappearing into the night.
Tristan had probably left to look for Audrey.

There wasn’t much time left before Stella’s delivery date was due. She didn’t wish for Tristan to treat Stella well, but she hoped that he would at least allow her to pass the remaining days in
peace.
Stella would drop by the university around 10:00 am every day.
Kieran visited the university every day, and he would always ask Stella to read the newspaper to him. Thus, Stella gained a new task-to learn about the contents of the article she would be reading to Kieran.
Hayden looked at Kieran and said teasingly, “Stelle keeps having to read the newspaper to you

during her working hours. Shouldn’t you be paying her on my behalf for the time she spends with
you?”
Kieran sipped his hot tea before placing the cup down. He scoffed as he looked at Hayden and said, “I guess you’re getting more and more shrewd. I didn’t think you’d be so calculative with me.”
Hayden couldn’t hold back his laughter.
“I won’t be able to ask her to read to me in the future even if I wanted to,” Kieran said as he looked
at Stella.
“I don’t have to read to you face-to-face,” Stella chimed in. “I can still read the newspaper to you
over the phone.”
When noon rolled around, Hayden accompanied Kieran to the canteen for lunch.
Stella had brought her own lunch. Her current state made it inconvenient for her to join them for
