Chapter 49
After Scott and the others bid each other farewell, the group of people went into their respective
cars.
Scott simply watched them drive off. He didn’t get into his car. Instead, he turned around and looked in Stella’s direction.
She was sitting there, looking incredibly quiet. She was all bundled up, making her belly look even bigger, but she was probably nearing her due date soon.
Who would’ve thought that the ordinary pregnant woman sitting there was a member of the Somertons, a top affluent family, and she was simply sitting there alone.
After remaining silent for some time, Scott looked down, pulling his gaze away. Right as he was about to get into his car, he saw Annabeth walking over with an umbrella.
Annabeth saw him too, and she couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him.
Stella stepped outside when she saw Annabeth, and the cold wind swept past her, making her
shudder.
Annabeth closed her umbrella and straightened Stella’s hat and scarf. Stella was so bundled up in layers that she looked like a bear.
“Let’s go,” Annabeth said. She held the umbrella and supported Stella by her arm as they walked forward. It was slippery, so they walked very slowly.
Scott sat in his car, watching their backs as they slowly moved away. It wasn’t until he received a call from Audrey that he ordered the drive, saying, “Let’s go.”
Stella got into Annabeth’s car, and they went to the mall nearby to have tea. There were two weeks left before Christmas, and the entire mall was filled with festive decorations.
Annabeth walked around the mall with Stella, and she asked Stella if she wanted to go into the baby and maternity store to have a look when they were passing by.
Stella shook her head. There was no need for her to prepare anything for the baby. She wouldn’t have the chance to stay by her side anyway.
She did her best to hide her emotions well, but Annabeth could still see the sorrow in her eyes. Stella was the one who carried the baby for months and would be going through great difficulty to give birth to her. But in the end, the baby would belong to someone else.
And what was the father of the baby doing at this moment? He was with his mistress, showing off his affection for her publicly.
Annabeth couldn’t help but curse at Tristan in silence. She had no clue how to comfort Stella, so she said nothing.

In the end, Stella gave in and bought a good-luck charm. She wanted to leave something behind for the baby.
The sky had completely darkened. Stella was ready to head home, so Daniel brought the car around, and Annabeth helped her get in.
The living room was very quiet after Stella got home. She changed into her house slippers and put her purse in her room before she went down to the kitchen to take a look.
At that moment, Layla was on a call with Gary, and Stella overheard a little bit of their conversation.
Once Layla saw her, she quickly ended the call and put her phone into the pocket of her apron. You’re back. It’s quite cold out there today. You’re not freezing, are you?”
Stella shook her head and replied, “No. Is Dad having trouble with the agreement?”
A company had agreed to acquire Gary’s company. They were a real estate company in Seaview with great financial resources.
