Chapter 54

Audrey looked in the direction of the entrance of the event hall.

Meanwhile, Stella was waiting in the lounge. Right then, she heard the door open.

She looked up and saw Scott and Hayden entering. She held her belly and wanted to get up, but Scott gestured for her to stay seated.

Scott sat across from her. His attitude was quite gentle as he asked, “What can I help you with?”

“I want you to have a look at this document, Mr. Quinton,” Stella said.

She pulled out the envelope from her purse and handed it to Scott. Then, she explained to him the reason she wanted to see him. Of course, she didn’t mention Audrey.

“It’s been rejected, but I still wish to talk to you and fight for it one last time,” she added.

Layla had texted her earlier, telling her that Gary had returned home. Also, Millennium Realty had gotten back to them, telling them that they didn’t pass the evaluation. Stella had expected that.

Scott accepted the document, but just as he was about to go through them, the door was suddenly

opened.

Everyone was shocked, and they immediately looked in the direction of the door.

They saw Audrey walking in, strutting in her heels. She swept a glance at everyone in the room before she landed her gaze on Scott and called out, “Scott.”

After he watched her walk in, Scott asked, “What’s the matter?”

Audrey walked up to him and saw the document in his hand. She grabbed it from him, scanned through it, and then threw it in front of Stella.

“Welleon Realty didn’t pass the acquisition evaluation of Millennium Realty. You should fix the issues of your company first, and then you can resubmit the documents. It’s inappropriate for you to go over the head of the person-in-charge,” Stella said.

Everything immediately became clear to Scott upon hearing Audrey’s remark.

Seeing how innocent Audrey looked, Stella immediately understood what people meant by calling someone a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

“Then, can you tell me why we didn’t pass the evaluation, Ms. York?” Stella asked.

“If you have to ask someone else about your own problem, then I have all the more reasons to

think that there is something wrong with your company,” Audrey said.

Stella smiled calmly and said, “If you can’t even answer a reasonable question, then I simply find your company’s ability to conduct an evaluation questionable.”

Audrey’s gaze darkened.

Stella put the document back in her purse and said, “I’m sorry for bothering you today, Mr.

Quinton.”

When she got up with one hand supporting her back and the other holding her belly, Hayden went up to help her.

Audrey’s gaze got even icier.

Scott got up as well, wanting to say something, but he suddenly saw Stella stopping in her tracks as she looked at the door. He turned around and saw that Tristan had entered the room.

Tristan’s expression was incredibly cold when he saw Stella. Clearly, he had heard her

conversation with Audrey earlier.

Stella looked away, avoiding his cold gaze.

“Tris!” Audrey called out.

She went up and held his arm, a touch that felt intimate.

Stella looked down as she walked right toward the door. When she walked past him, she heard him say in a deep, icy voice, “Go home.”

Stella’s chest tightened, and she slowly walked toward the door. Hayden left the room with her.

Scott remained in place, watching Stella’s sorrowful back as she moved slowly. Suddenly, he felt a

surge

of emotions that he just couldn’t quite put into words.

After Stella and Hayden got out of the lounge, Hayden said, “I’ll give you a lift home.”

Stella looked at him and said, “The party is still ongoing. I can get my driver to come and pick me

up.”

Hayden gave it a thought and said, “That works too. I’ll walk you down, then.”

“Alright,” she said.

Both of them then took the elevator together and headed down.
