Chapter 70
Stella had no intention of leaving the villa either.
If the weather was pleasant, she would take a stroll around the lake, but she spent most of her time reading in the villa.
Layla couldn’t go home for the time being, so she could only speak to Gary on the phone. He informed her that Welleon Realty’s acquisition process was nearly complete.
While Gary had a lot of free time on his hands now, Jonathan was always leaving early and
returning home late at night.
Everything was proceeding smoothly after he secured a partnership with Theodore’s company and signed an investment agreement with Rover Capital.
Eventually, Layla’s and Gary’s conversation shifted to the topic of Stella and Tristan. An immensely uncomfortable feeling bubbled in Gary’s chest when this topic was brought up.
Layla couldn’t help herself and aired out all her grievances to Gary. “I know that our family can’t match up to the Somertons, but they’re behaving as if Stelle isn’t carrying their grandchild.
“We have to return whatever we owe to Tristan in the future. With interest. I don’t want them to think that our family is taking advantage of their wealth.”
Gary shared Layla’s sentiments. He had initially planned to use the money he got from selling off his company to pay Tristan back after he divorced Stella. However, Jonathan’s company needed funding.
He had a good feeling that Jonathan’s company had a bright future, especially since Rover Capital had also invested in it. It was why he decided to invest the money in Jonathan’s company first.
It wasn’t as if he had forgotten his debt to Tristan. He would simply return the money with
interest to him when the time came.
“I just feel sad for the baby.”
Both of them fell silent.
That night, in a surprising turn of events, Tristan returned to the villa in time to have dinner with
Stella.
It was quiet in the dining room with only the sounds of their cutlery clinking against the dishes. Neither of them spoke.
After Tristan finished his dinner, he got up and walked out of the dining room.
Stella retired to her room once she was done eating. She hesitated for a moment before ultimately deciding to ask Tristan about their divorce. She had already made the arrangements with Hayden

and would be leaving for Aluna in early February.
She was expected to give birth before the New Year at the latest. They would be able to acquire the divorce certificate after submitting the divorce agreement and waiting out the cooldown period. Once the cooldown period was over, it would be about time for her to leave the country.
She could still spend a month with her newborn child.
Tristan was in the study.
Stella knocked on the door. She waited for him to respond before she pushed it open.
He glanced at her briefly before redirecting his attention back to the computer screen. “What do
you want?”
Stella approached him and asked, “Have you told Mrs. Somerton Senior and the others that we’re getting a divorce?”
This was the first time she had spoken to him since he accompanied her to the hospital for her check-up. They no longer had anything to say to each other, so they could only talk about their
divorce.
