She’s Done. He’s Breaking novel Chapter 71

Chapter 71

Scott had a feeling he knew what Emma wanted to say to him. His face was an emotionless

mask as he stared at her in silence.

Emma let out a helpless sigh as she looked at Scott. “Scott, it’s not that I want to stop you. It’s just that it’s been more than a decade now. You should let go. All of us are living our own lives now, so we shouldn’t disrupt each other’s lives.”

Scott had passed by the old villa estate two days ago. Unable to help himself, he had entered the estate to take a look around. When he parked his car in front of the villa, he coincidentally ran into the new owner of the villa just as she was exiting the building.

He had then approached the woman and asked about the villa’s previous owner.

“The original owner mismanaged his company,” the woman told him. “I heard that he declared bankruptcy, and he had to sell this villa last year to pay off his debts.’

Scott had immediately sent his men to investigate further after receiving this particular bit of information.

However, after Emma found out what he was doing, she swiftly shut down the investigation.

Scott looked at her and asked, “Don’t I have the right to find out how my father and sister are doing?”

Emma’s expression darkened. “And then what? Are you going to reunite with them? Don’t forget that you’re no longer a member of the Roberts family’

“So what am I now? A York?” Scott countered, a mocking smile stretched across his lips.

Pain flickered in Emma’s eyes when she saw how Scott was staring at her with a mocking expression.

Scott had been 14 years old when she took him with her. He had argued and fought with her every day after they arrived in Seaview. He would come up with all sorts of plans to return to the Roberts family, and it had taken her a whole year to get him to calm down.

He had tried to sneak out several times after that, but she would always find him at the airport or the high-speed rail station before bringing him back home.

In the end, Emma had no choice but to assign a few men to keep an eye on Scott around the clock. Although he was by her side now, she still had her men keeping tabs on him at all times.

Emma softened her voice. “More than a decade has passed, Scott. Your father probably has his own family now. If you really care about them, the best way for that is to stay out of their lives.

Scott let out a low chuckle. “You’re so heartless, Mom. But why didn’t I inherit your heartlessness?”

“Scott Quinton!”

Scott turned and walked toward the door. When he opened it, he came face-to-face with Audrey, who had been standing outside.

Audrey nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw Scott’s stormy expression.

“Scott.’

Scott stared at her, but in the end, he didn’t say anything before he left.

Audrey stood frozen for several seconds before she snapped back to her senses. She entered the room and saw Emma sitting on the couch. She approached her and asked, “What happened between you and Scott, Mom?”

Although she had been young at the time, she could still remember how Emma and Scott were always arguing. She also remembered how Scott hadn’t liked her when they were younger, telling her that she wasn’t his sister.

With the passing of time, Scott eventually accepted her and treated her very well after they grew older.

They were supposed to be a warm and harmonious family, so why were Scott and Emma fighting again?

Emma forced herself to calm down before comforting Audrey. “It’s nothing. We just had a little disagreement. It’ll pass soon.”

Audrey hugged Emma and said, “I don’t want to see you and Scott fighting.”

“Okay. We won’t fight anymore.”

Audrey stayed with Emma for a little while before leaving to look for Scott. She found him drinking alone.
