Chapter 76

When Tristan returned to his office at 11:30 am, his secretary said, “Mr. Somerton, someone who claims to be Stella Roberts’ brother is here to see you.”

Tristan paused in his steps. “Let him up.”

“Yes, sir.”

Before long, Jonathan arrived at Tristan’s office. This was the first time the two men had formally met.

A glass of water in his hand, Tristan walked back from the water dispenser to his desk. Looking at Jonathan at the door, Tristan said, “Have a seat.’

Jonathan was distant and indifferent. “No need. I’ll just say a few things and leave.”

Tristan glanced at him before sitting down in his chair and setting the glass aside. “Go on.”

Jonathan stepped forward. “Mr. Somerton, you must’ve seen all the online comments from last night. Have you thought about how to deal with those who were targeting Stella?”

Tristan braced one hand against the desk and tapped his index finger in a slow, measured rhythm. He looked at Jonathan and asked in a neutral, unreadable tone, “How do you want to

deal with them?”

With a hint of sarcasm, Jonathan answered, “So it seems you haven’t even given it much thought.

Tristan said nothing.

“I tracked down three of them who led the online attacks against Stella,” Jonathan continued

as he took out a photo from inside his jacket and placed it in front of Tristan. “Do you recognize them, Mr. Somerton?”

Tristan picked up the photo. It was a group picture. Audrey was sitting on a stool in the center, surrounded by three other women. All of them were smiling brightly at the camera.

He then set the photo down and looked at Jonathan, asking, “You’re free to choose what you want to do, but I’ll offer one piece of advice. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.”

Jonathan replied, “Poor Stella had to suffer such senseless attacks. You may be able to stay above it all, acting as if it has nothing to do with you, but I’m her brother. I won’t sit idly by and just watch.

“I’d like to offer you my two cents as well. It’s not about what you think you can handle. You only know your limits until you try.”

Chapter 76

Tristan’s gaze darkened as he looked at Jonathan, who turned to leave.

Suddenly remembering something, Jonathan stopped halfway and said, “Our family is indeed in debt to the Somertons, but whatever we owe, we’ll one day repay -principal and interest included.”

With that, he walked out the door. At the doorway, he saw Scott and Audrey.

Jonathan’s eyes fell on Audrey, and it was like ice cutting through her. She went pale in a heartbeat. He then flicked a quick look at Scott and strode away.

Scott stood there and watched the retreating figure before turning back into the office. Audrey scurried toward Tristan, her voice carrying a trace of grievance as she called out, “Tris!”

Scott stared at Tristan, clearly wanting to say something, but uttered nothing.

Jonathan left the building and got into his car. Then came a call from Theodore.
