Chapter 77

Hayden, Annabeth, and Theodore were all at the hospital. Gary and Layla had been by Stella’s side while the doctors monitored her condition constantly.

With so many people around her, Stella was in high spirits and feeling remarkably well.

Hayden called Kieran to update him on Stella’s condition.

“Isn’t Tristan at the hospital?” Kieran asked.

Hayden paused for a moment, glanced into the hospital room, and replied, “Only Theodore’s here.”

That meant no one else from the Somerton family was there.

Kieran’s breathing grew heavier as he said, “At least you’re all there with her. Give the phone to Stelle. I’d like to talk to her for a bit.”

“Okay, hold on.”

Hayden entered the room and handed the phone to Stella. “It’s Kieran. He wants to speak with you.”

She took the phone and answered, “Hello, Mr. Fulton.’

Whatever Kieran said, she simply replied, “Okay, I understand. Thank you, Mr. Fulton.”

She hung up and returned the phone to Hayden.

By 3:00 pm, Stella was fully dilated. She was immediately taken to the operating room.

Eloise, Yelena, and Angela arrived half an hour later. Gary and Layla only exchanged brief, formal greetings with the Somertons; no further conversation followed.

Eloise saw Theodore and asked, “Theodore, when did you get here?”

He replied, “I wasn’t busy today, so I came to check on Stella.’

She didn’t press further. Then, Eloise and her group went into the waiting room, while Gary and the rest lingered outside the operating room,

An hour later, the baby was born. The nurse carried the newborn out carefully.

When Eloise rushed forward, the nurse said, “It’s a girl. She’s five pounds and six ounces. Congratulations to you both, Mrs. Somerton.”

Eloise’s eyes lit up with joy as she looked at the baby. “Look at her. She looks just like Tristan when he was a newborn.”

Yelena smiled at the baby too. “Yes, she really resembles Tristan. She’s going to grow up to be a beautiful young lady.”

Eloise was on cloud nine.

Gary, having not seen Stella, anxiously asked the nurse, “Where’s my daughter?”

The nurse replied, “The mother’s experiencing severe postpartum bleeding. The doctors are still working to stabilize her.”

“What?” Gary’s legs went weak, and he nearly collapsed. Those nearby rushed to support him.

The baby had been born a week early, so the nurse went to place her in a radiant warmer for monitoring. Eloise and Yelena followed along.
