Chapter 79
Chapter 79
Stella saw Tristan as he entered. He was holding the baby in his arms as he walked over. Then, he carefully placed her beside Stella.
Stella turned to look at the baby with a gentle, tender smile. When the baby saw her mother, she let out a chuckle. Stella wanted to hold her so badly, but she didn’t have the strength to move at all.
Layla smiled softly at the sight of the baby. She, too, wanted to hold her, but held herself back.
The baby lay beside Stella, and soon, her eyes closed as she drifted back to sleep.
Stella looked feebly at Tristan and asked, “What did you name her?”
“Faith Somerton.”
“Faith…” she murmured. It was a beautiful name.
She asked Layla to take a photo of the three of them together. After that, Tristan picked the baby up and said, “You should rest.”
With that, he carried Faith out of the room.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and Stella’s condition gradually improved. She could already get out of bed and walk, though she was still not allowed to leave the hospital. She had to remain under observation for a few more days.
Faith had already been taken back to the Somerton residence. So, Hayden and Annabeth didn’t get to see her when they came to visit. Stella showed them the photo instead.
“Take good care of yourself, alright?” Hayden said. Anything more would have been
meaningless.
Stella nodded. “I will.”
During her hospital stay, Annabeth came by every single day, keeping her company and chatting with her. Theodore also visited from time to time,
He told her that Faith was now at Sentella Bay with dedicated caretakers assigned to take care of her needs. The Somertons had all gone to see her one after another. Lately, the entire Somerton household had been brimming with joy.
For the past few days, Stella and Tristan hadn’t contacted each other at all. She had no idea how Faith was truly doing. So, hearing the news from Theodore finally put her mind at ease.

No matter how turbulent his emotions ran, Theodore never let them show in front of Stella. In the past, he had always felt that the Somertons’ way of handling things was domineering and high-handed, but he never bothered much about it because he himself was one of them.
Standing in Stella’s position, he could now feel the arrogance and detachment from his family. To the Somertons, someone who brought them no benefit-be it a daughter-in-law-could be treated with such indifference.
He could see Stella’s pain and reluctance hidden deep in her eyes. Yet neither of them ever spoke of it, as though they shared an unspoken agreement to avoid every tender truth.
Two more days passed, and the doctor finally approved Stella’s discharge after a thorough examination.
Layla wrapped Stella in layers upon layers of clothing, finally sealing her into a thick jacket so only her eyes and nose were left uncovered.
“You absolutely cannot catch even the slightest draft right now, or you’ll be left with lifelong complications later,” she said.
