She’s Done. He’s Breaking novel Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Jonathan drove his car up, and Gary helped Stella down the steps. When they reached the car, Jonathan bent down and lifted Stella into his arms. Layla supported her carefully from the side. as they gently settled her into the vehicle.

Once Jonathan’s car pulled away, the driver got back into his and dialed Tristan’s number.

“Mr. Somerton, Mrs. Somerton’s family has taken her home.”

On the other end of the line, Tristan was sitting on a couch, his gaze fixed on the crib. Faith had just fallen asleep. Her little hand was holding onto his pinky, so he tried not to move. Each day, the baby seemed to grow a little, looking more beautiful than the day before.

Hearing the driver’s words, Tristan said nothing and ended the call.

At home, Stella was well cared for by Layla. Her condition had improved significantly. Seeing how Layla had been tending to her day and night, Stella felt a pang of guilt. The exhaustion was etched clearly on Layla’s face, especially the dark circles under her eyes.

“Layla, thank you for taking care of me all this time.”

“Don’t say that. We’re family. It’s only right that we take care of each other,” Layla replied.

Stella reached out and hugged Layla, burying her face in the latter’s arms. “Mom,” she cried.

Tears instantly welled in Layla’s eyes. She stroked Stella’s head and choked, “My girl.”

The end of the month approached, and the city was already decorated for the New Year.

Stella learned that Jonathan had filed a lawsuit against those who cyberbullied her. Gary and Layla only then realized that that was the reason Stella had gone into labor so suddenly. They were furious.

Gary couldn’t help swearing under his breath. “Tristan, that son of a bitch!”

No matter how angry he got, Gary had never let words like that slip. But this time, he couldn’t hold back anymore. He even considered returning all the money and demanding custody of the baby.

As the grandfather, he had seen the baby only once in the hospital. He didn’t even get the chance to hold her yet.

Still, those were just thoughts fueled by rage. Even if he went through with returning the

money, they could never claim Faith.

Meanwhile, Layla remained calm and managed to stop him.

“The lawsuit is progressing smoothly. The accused party contacted me and offered compensation. Stelle, what do you think?”

Jonathan hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly.

Stella said, “Audrey is behind this, isn’t she?”

Looking at the photo that had been taken of her, no one else could have done it. The others

were all strangers. So, the only possibility was Audrey.

Jonathan said, “She didn’t post anything online herself. Her friends did it.”

Stella let out a sarcastic laugh. “Ah, so it wasn’t Audrey after all.’

That was why the case had progressed so smoothly.

“Then, let them pay the compensation.”

In the end, the one who truly deserved punishment never did. The real culprit behind the incident was Tristan. It wouldn’t make a difference if only those around Audrey were

penalized.

Jonathan knew it too. The accused made it impossible for them to pursue further. They had

come up against a wall.

Just like that, the instigators walked away without bearing any real responsibility, and Tristan remained high up at his perch, untouchable.

Jonathan couldn’t help clenching his fists at that thought. For a moment, everyone at the

dining table sank into gloom.
