Chapter 82

New Year’s Eve arrived in the blink of an eye. Early in the morning, Layla started preparing the ingredients for the New Year’s Eve dinner, while Gary and Jonathan helped clean the house.

That day, Theodore came over with gifts. He also brought along presents and supplements that Kieran had asked him to deliver. Layla and Gary took the gifts and welcomed him inside.

“Stelle’s in her room right now. Go see her.”

“Okay,” said Theodore.

He knocked on Stella’s door and entered. She was leaning against the bed, knitting a scarf with an adorable strawberry pattern. It was soft and fluffy.

He thought it must be warm and cozy to the touch, but the scarf was clearly not for an adult.

Stella had nothing to do at home these days, so she spent her time knitting. She looked up and greeted, “Hey, you’re here.”

Theodore had called her ahead of time before coming. He closed the door and walked over. Seeing her rosy and healthy complexion, he felt relieved. She must be under great care.

“So you’ve been staying home knitting scarves?” he teased.

She hummed softly and said, “I’ve been so bored. I had to find something to pass the time.”

He sat on the couch and chatted casually with her.

“Did Tristan ask you for a divorce?” he couldn’t help asking.

Stella’s hands paused slightly before she nodded. “Yeah. I’ve already signed the papers.”

Theodore lowered his eyes and tightened his fists. “Then did he leave you with anything?”

She let out a chuckle and shook her head. “Even if he were willing to give me something, I wouldn’t take it.”

Taking something that never belonged to her would eventually come with a price. She didn’t want to owe Tristan anything, not even the slightest bit.

Theodore said nothing more after that.

At noon, he stayed for lunch. Before he left, Stella handed him a bag. Inside were two knitted scarves and a small hat she had made. Along with those were the good-luck charm she had bought earlier and the bracelet Annabeth had given her.

“I know she lacks nothing, but please help me give these to Faith.”

Theodore took the bag and said, “No problem.”

New Year’s Eve was a night meant for celebration.

At the Somerton residence, the arrival of a new life made the atmosphere livelier. The absence of the baby’s mother had not affected the festivity in the slightest.

From the second floor, Theodore looked down at the happy crowd with an indifferent expression.

Just then, Tristan glanced up at him. Their gazes met.

Theodore looked away and turned.

The living room on the second floor was especially quiet. Faint sounds of excitement drifted up from downstairs. Theodore sat alone, playing a game on his phone.

Footsteps approached. He put his phone down, saw Tristan, and immediately looked away. He had no intention of greeting him.

Tristan sat down on the single seater beside him and asked, “What are you thinking about?”

Theodore kept quiet. He then passed the bag beside him to Tristan. Inside were the knitted hat and scarves.
