Ryan’s pov
Bring me to the cells? Oh no, not when I needed to see Evie.
Apex roared in my head, trying to take control of me entirely as we fought against the restraints. The council leader looks down at me coldly. “Fighting will only make this worse, Alpha Ryan. I would suggest you stop.”
I gritted my teeth, my canines pushing out my gums. “Why!?” I snarled. “Why are you placing me in the cell?!”
He straightens. “Because you had the audacity to fight another alpha in my presence. Fortunately for you, you won’t be staying in there for long but until you calm down Alpha Ryan. However, continuing to fight will result in you spending days, perhaps even months.”
I flashed him my canines, Apex a lot more furious now to even care about the consequences. “Calm down Alpha,” one restraining me utters as he tightens his hold.
A low, enraged growl ripped from my chest, vibrating through the room as the council men tightened their grip on me even more brutal than before.
“Months?” I snarl, my tone dropping into something far more lethal. “You think I have months?” This was more Apex now, completely and utterly livid that they were locking us up instead of setting us free to go to Evie.
I needed to see her now. I needed answers now.
The council leader didn’t flinch, hell the man didn’t even blink. “That depends entirely on you Alpha Ryan,” he replied casually. “Are you going to rein in your wolf and calm down or are you going to make this even more difficult for you?”
Apex wouldn’t listen; all he saw was red and that the council men were a threat to his mate. He thought they were trying to keep him away from her and that didn’t sit right with him.
Before I could stop him, he had already taken over. Apex slammed forward, claws scraping beneath my fingertips, as he demanded blood, demanded freedom.
‘They’re in the way.’ He snarled.
“Release me!” He snarled angrily in the air but they didn’t. Instead, another comes forward with silver chains and Apex fights
even more.
He twists hard and ends up ripping one arm free just enough to slam our elbow into the ribs of the man to our left. He grunted, grip faltering and that was all we needed.
We lunged forward but we didn’t get far.
A crushing weight slammed into me from the back and that drove me to my knees as another member forced my arm back, chains now biting deeper into my skin.
The silver weakens Apex and he is forced to go back into my mind and allow me to take the reins.
“Enough of this nonsense Alpha Ryan!” The council leader barked angrily. “Get your wolf under control! Now!”
My chest heaved, breath coming out in harsh pants as I glared up at him, fury blazing in my eyes. I am furious that I cannot overpower them all.
“You’re wasting time,” I growled. “Every second you keep me here-”
“-Is a second you prove my point,” he cut in sharply, eyes blazing with just as much heated fury as mine. “You are unstable.”
Unstable.

If I continue to show that I am….I won’t ever get to see Evie again. I had to rein in Apex and control him or we risk not ever getting answers.
‘I will stop,’ Apex hissed reluctantly. ‘For now.’
My eyes cast down and the fight leaves me, my shoulder sagging as I shake my head in sadness. “You don’t understand. Three years ago, my parents called in another witch,” I whispered softly and ignored the biting of the silver around my wrist.
“They called her in to erase my memories of Evie. But the spell came with a weakness,” I lift my head and the leader looked at me like I had caught his attention.
He raised his hand up, eyes foggy as he communicates with the others. Those restraining me loosen their hold but they aren’t stupid enough to move too far away from me.
“Go on,” the leader said with a tight nod.
I swallowed hard as I continued. “The spell…” I started, my voice faint as I recall how everything came to me just a few hours ago. “It didn’t completely erase her. It buried her.”
A few of the council members leaned forward. Clearly, I have gotten their attention. “Buried?” One of them repeated, confused.
I nodded slowly, trying to recall everything I heard that night when the witch erased my memories. Father and Mother had kept a lot of the truth from me. “Locked away. Every memory of her. Every feeling. Every instinct tied to her,” My jaw clenched hard.
“But not the bond.”
A ripple of unease moved through the room. “Impossible,” one muttered as he looked at me with furrowed brows.
“Not entirely,” Gavin suddenly utters emotionlessly. I snapped my gaze to his, shocked that he said something to defend me.” I’ve heard witchcraft tied to the mind often fails against bonds blessed by the moon goddess.”
“Exactly,” I said, latching onto that. “It didn’t break the bond. It just…suppressed it.”
The council leader’s gaze sharpened on me, somewhat still unsure if to believe me or not. “And what is the weakness of this spell?”
I exhaled slowly. I had to make him believe. I had to. “That if I ever came into close contact with her again…” My voice gets firmer. “The spell would start to fracture.”
I could see it in their eyes now. They were considering my words. They were not in disbelief anymore or accusing me.
“And it has?” the council leader asked.
I met his gaze without hesitation. “It already did.”
Murmurs rippled through the entire room. “When?” one of the council men pressed.
My jaw flexed. “The moment she stepped back into my territory.”
Images flashed, her scent hitting me like a punch to the chest, the way my wolf stirred violently for no reason I could understand at the time. The way we were drawn to her when she stepped beside Gavin.
“The headaches started first,” I continued. “Then the anger. The loss of control. The pull toward her that I couldn’t explain.”
“I thought I was losing my mind,” I admitted, snorting a little as I remembered how much pain I had been in when the memories were coming back. “But it was the spell breaking. Every time I got closer to her…every time I touched her…”
My fists clenched unconsciously. “It broke more.”
The council members exchanged glances. “And now?” the leader asked again.
