The Alpha Slipped Inside The Wrong Sister novel Chapter 111

Brett’s pov

“Fuck,” I breathed out sharply, running a hand down my face as I stared at Margaret’s dead body. It hadn’t been long since she was killed. Her body was still warm and their scent was still fresh on her.

I crouch low to examine her body, wincing when my eyes catch her tongue beside her head. Ripped her tongue out…..ouch.

I shook my head, my head throbbing. Dammit Hannah. This hadn’t been part of the plan. Now everything has just gotten complicated.

How will I explain this to Ryan? He wasn’t dumb and I’m sure Beta Dustin felt his mate being ripped from him. I couldn’t exactly say she escaped with Kimberly and Hannah too. I wouldn’t be able to get rid of the body fast enough before others get here.

“Fuck Hannah,” I groaned, brushing a hand down my face once more before my ears picked up a sound coming front eh dungeon walls.

Remaining in my crouched position, my head tilt slightly to the area. Warriors. Our warriors. Shit. They got here quick.

“Beta Brett?” They called out to me. I let out a sigh before plastering on a blank expression.

“I’m in here. Come.” My voice came out steadier than I felt inwardly.

I straightened and stood up as I forced down every bit of panic I felt into something more controlled. Calm. I needed to be calm even though right now I felt anything but.

By the time they stepped into view I was already a few paces away from Margaret’s body, feigning studying her.

As soon as their eyes landed on her, they looked panicked and shocked. “So it’s true, Beta Margaret is dead,”

“Whoever did it knocked out the guards,” one pointed out.

“How did she die? Someone must’ve killed her,” another gasped.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes sarcastically. No shit Sherlock. He was definitely not the smartest in the bunch. 1

“How did you all get here so fast?” I questioned them, hoping they’d not ask me why I hadn’t notified them when I found out myself.

“Former Luna Stephie mind linked us,” one replied. “Apparently, Beta Dustin felt it. She had us go there to be sure that the female Beta was truly dead.”

“Hmm,” I nod, pretending not to care that this sudden death didn’t put me in a bad predicament. I was better off running away

too.

Staying here would jeopardize me but it was now far too late to escape. Now that she’s dead, I am certain other warriors would be on high alert. Escaping here would not be easy.

“Don’t bother informing Alpha Ryan, I have already.” I lied straight through my teeth. “I’ve also told him that Kimberly ran away or was captured. Someone must’ve come here to kill Margaret and perhaps her too but she got away.”

They looked at each other and I saw the flicker of doubt. I had to think quickly.

“Come,” I said, already walking towards the entrance of the dungeon. “I will show you something. I believe whoever killed her left a trail of blood at the entrance. It’s barely noticeable but maybe we can try to see if there’s more trail left.”

As long as I act as a Beta they wouldn’t suspect.

Of course they followed me and I nearly breathed some relief. I needed to show them that I was very interested in capturing the culprit who killed Margaret even though I already knew who. Kimberly.

Her scent was all over the tongue and Margaret’s neck.

Now at the entrance, I showed them the small trail of blood but another scent not too far away caught my attention. The warriors had not picked it up yet but I did.

Evie Gold.

The Beta’s daughter and Kimberly’s sister. The one who is to be blamed for the Luna being sent into the dungeon is drawing

closer.

I smirked inwardly. There was someone I could blame for the death. It would be so easy, especially with the altercation she had with Margaret, Kimberly and Hannah earlier.

‘Alpha there’s a problem at the pack house! Kimberly seems to have escaped and…Margaret….’ I mind linked Alpha Ryan, feigning being unsure if to continue or not.

Of course that captured his attention more because he pushed for me to continue. ‘Speak.’ He snarls.

‘She’s….dead,’ I said softly and then uttered after. “I spotted the head warrior of the Midnight Ridge close by. Her scent was off… she had a scent strangely close to Margaret’s.’

‘What are you trying to say Brett?’ Ryan growled angrily.

‘I’m saying she may be the one who killed Margaret. Perhaps Kimberly escaped her hands and-

“I’m coming! In the meantime send warriors to capture Kimberly. Brett..don’t touch Evie.’ he warns.

‘But alpha she-

‘Don’t fucking touch her! I’m coming!’ He roared and cut off the mind link.

I had the intention of following his orders in not touching the bitch but she had a smart mouth when I told her to show herself. What really ticked me off even more was that she had already suspected me from the get-go and I couldn’t have that.

So I touched her, a warning the alpha gave clearly not to and fuck I knew I was going to pay the price when I heard his growl.

Ryan’s pov

“Step on it!” I yelled at the driver. We were twenty minutes away but still so far away. Even though I told Brett not to touch Evie, I didn’t want to not be present to see what’s happening.

I also wanted to be able to capture Kimberly.

Gavin’s head snaps towards me when he hears the urgency of my tone. “What’s going on?” He demanded, already sensing that something was amiss.

“Kimberly escaped,” I gritted my teeth. “And Margaret is dead.”

Gavin’s brows lifted in shock. “What!?”

I nodded. “She’s been murdered and my acting Beta thinks the culprit who killed her is none other than Evie.”

Gavin’s lips part in disbelief before his eyes turned dark. “Fucking impossible! Evie would never do that!”

We’ve garnered the attention of the council men in front. “I know she wouldn’t! That’s why I told him not to touch her and I trust that he will not! I told him to send warriors after Kimberly to capture her. I am sure she’s not too far.”

“Good, because Evie would never do that,” Gavin grumbles under his breath.

“To be safe, it would be best to not mind link her and let her know the Beta suspects her,” one of the council men at front
