Evie’s pov
The growl didn’t come from behind me, it came from behind them. Every single one of the Silver Blood warriors stiffened under that commanding voice. Their alpha was here.
“Did you all not understand my command!?” he roars into the air again and the Silver blood warriors wince, falling to their knees as Ryan’s power washes over them.
“Apologize to your true Luna. Now!”
The air is filled now with shocked gasps and my heart skips a beat. Lisa and the others look at me, eyes widened as if they didn’t know how to react. I too didn’t know what to say. He was claiming me as the pack’s true Luna.
“So she accomplished what she wanted all along?” one of the warriors whispered, gritting her teeth.” She seduced our alpha.”
My hands fists at my sides. This is exactly what I didn’t want. This is exactly why I told Ryan we should take things slow….. but here he was declaring me as this packs future Luna when his Luna had barely been gone for a whole day.
This was too fast, too soon.
“Enbugh,” my voice cuts through the tension. Ryan’s power was still pressing down on them when I stepped forward, my eyes lifting to meet his. The fury was swimming in his eyes but the second they connected to mine, they start to soften.
“I only came here to train your warriors,” I tear my eyes away from his and looked at the bowing Silver Blood pack. “I didn’t come here to cause an issue between leaders. Please let me do what I’ve been assigned to do,” my eyes flicker to him and his jaw
clenches.
“They disrespected you,” he replied, his voice sharp with irritation. “They should apologize to their-
I shook my head, silently telling him to not say it. He sighs and then nods in understanding. “Fine,” he then scans his eyes over his warriors and the orders. “Stand up,” His voice no longer a roar but it still carries enough dominance to make every spine of
his warriors to straighten instantly.
He slowly starts to ease off the pressure as the Silver Blood warriors rise slowly. Some avoided my gaze while others were still watching me with that same mix of resentment and uncertainty.
I couldn’t be mad at them. Not when I understood why they would be angry. They didn’t know the entire story.
Ryan’s jaw was tight as his eyes swept over them.
“No one speaks out of line again,” he said coldly.” Not about her. Not about anything you clearly don’t understand.”
They all nodded stiffly and Ryan looked at me, his eyes softening instantly. “You can resume your training Evie,” he utters gently. “I assure you they will never step out of line again.”
I nod, thanking him with a grateful smile. He looks stunned to see my smile and for a moment, he just stands there like he is frozen in time. And then….. he smiles back warmly and my heart stutters.
For a second, the world around us seemed to fade and it was just him and me. That smile. That boyish happy smile. That’s how he always smiled at me before. Before everything came crashing down.
“Evie?” Lisa nudged me lightly on the shoulder and tugs me out of my thoughts. I rip my eyes away from Ryan.
“Alright,” I clapped my hands once and forced my focus back to where it needed to be.” Training will start now. Pair up quickly.”
Lisa stepped forward, her eyes narrowing on the warriors.” You heard her,” she snapped. “Move!”
They quickly began to shuffle and started to pair up. I turned, ready to start directing drills, when I heard his voice closer beside

“I’ll stay.” I looked over at Ryan to see that he was walking over to me. My heart skips.
“I can handle them,” I said quickly. Now that I know what had really happened…. it would be harder to resist him. His scent instantly envelopes me when he stops beside me, crossing his arms over his broad chest.
The corner of his lips twitches into a smirk. “I know you can. Never said you couldn’t head warrior,” he teases but he stares at me in awe.
Heat crept up my neck at the name. Head warrior….. the way he said it….. like he was proud of me made me flush.
Get it together Evie.
I cleared my throat quickly and turned away before I did something stupid like smile back again.
“Then try to act like you’re not even here,” I muttered, trying to sound unaffected by his presence. “I don’t want to hear a yap from you.”
His low chuckle made a shiver snake down my spine. ” Yes, ma’am.”
Ignoring the way that did something to my chest, I began to order. “Warm up laps!” I called out. Fifty around the field. Move!”
A chorus of groans followed but they obeyed anyway.
I walked along the edges of the field as I watched their forms. I corrected a few of their postures and tried to ignore the burning stare on my every move. But no matter how hard I tried to ignore it and focus…..I could still feel him.
