Arielle’s pov
“But my door will forever stay open for you and our son, Evie,” Alpha’s-Ryan voice murmurs softly. I grit my teeth when I hear how soft his voice was. “Always.”
I glared at the window where I could see the three seated around the dining table. That runt…..she got everything a lot of us wished for. She never deserved him.
My claws dug into the bark of the tree as rage curled inside my chest.
Alpha Ryan sat there smiling softly at her.
Not at Kimberly….never Kimberly.
Not any of the females in the Silver Blood pack who had spent years trying to earn even a fraction of his attention.
Evie.
The same weak runt everyone used to mock and laugh at. The very same girl with no wolf who used to follow alpha Ryan around like a lost little puppy.
Now she sat at his table carrying his son in her lap while he looked at her like she was the moon goddess herself. My chest burned with jealousy.
“Un-fucking-believable,” I muttered bitterly beneath my breath.
I watched the little boy laugh loudly at something Alpha Ryan said and I glared at him and his stupid mother. His son….the future heir of this pack. A child nobody knew existed until yesterday.
And somehow that little runt of a woman had managed to give the alpha exactly what the rest of us wish we could for him. A family. My jaw clenched harder.
She didn’t deserve it.
Inside the kitchen, Alpha Ryan leaned back in his chair laughing while Evie buried her burning face in her hands. Their son was giggling so hard he nearly fell off her lap. Like the perfect family.
Before I could stop it, a low growl left my throat. I stiffened when Alpha Ryan paused and started to sniff the air. I quickly disappeared into the treeline and rushed back to the infirmary before he could catch my scent.
I stalked toward one of the empty supply rooms and shut myself inside before the growl building in my throat could escape again. “Why her?” I whispered bitterly.
Out of everyone in this pack….why did the moon goddess choose her? She had never been anything special. She was never special. She had been a runt! A nobody! Hell, for years the bitch couldn’t even summon her own woll.
Females threw themselves at Alpha Ryan for years and he ignored every single one of them. Some of the strongest wolves in Silver Blood couldn’t even get him to look twice at them, especially his former Luna Kimberly. He ignored her every second of the day.
It was even rumored that he couldn’t get hard for her and that they never even had sex!
Yet here comes Evie Gold, her little sister and the woman who seems to have captured Ryan’s heart without even trying. It was infuriating.
A knock sounded suddenly on the half open door before someone stepped inside. Thetta, another doctor, looked at me stunned. “Whoa,” he uttered. “You look murderous.”
I immediately smoothed my expression into something calmer. “I’m completely fine.”

Theo snorted loudly. “Sure you are.”

He leaned against the wall casually and folded his arms over his chest. “Let me guess. This is about the head warrior of the Midnight Ridge pack and Alpha Ryan claiming her as his true Luna? Most of the pack seems to be pissed off about that.”
“She’s ruining everything,” I hissed before I could stop myself. “People are already talking. Kimberly just disappeared and now suddenly Evie and her child are in the alpha’s house acting like……”
“Like his family?” Thetta interrupted with eyes that studies me.
I stiffened.
Thetta shook his head when I did not respond. “That’s because they are Arielle.”
My jaw clenched and I glared at the wall beside him. If I could slit his throat my damn self I would.
“The boy is his son,” Thetta continued. “And whether people like it or not, the alpha wouldn’t claim Evie as his true mate if it weren’t true.”
I laughed bitterly. “You sound happy about that. A warrior from that pack now claimed by our alpha. That’s our enemy pack!” Thetta shrugged lightly. “I’m happy the alpha finally looks somewhat alive again. That man hadn’t been happy for years. He was a shell of himself. Besides the midnight Ridge pack is helping us, especially her. We should give Evie a chance. She had never been stuck up like her sister Kimberly.”
His words made me angrier and I glared at him. “Kimberly was a powerful Luna,” I argued. “Everyone respected her. No one will respect Evie.”
Thetta gave me a look that practically said are you fucking serious. “People feared Kimberly,” He corrected bluntly. “That’s not the same thing Arielle,” he tilted his head as he studies me sharply. “Why are you so furious? Evie had been a part of this pack once and she hadn’t been bad. In fact, she’d been so quiet you guys would bully her.”
I glared at him and didn’t bother responding as I stormed out, but before I could fully go outside, Thetta’s voice stopped me.” You can’t have him now that Kimberly is gone Arielle. He was never yours and would never be. His true mate has returned.”
