Ryan’s pov
The air leaves my lungs in a violent exhale and for a moment, I don’t think I heard him correctly. Then my wolf does. And something inside me snaps.
“You will not fucking touch her,” I say, voice low and lethal, shaking with barely contained rage. “You touch her, “I growl, my voice no longer human. ” And I’ll burn this pack to the ground.”
Father steps closer, unflinching. “So we understand each other then. We both would lose but you’d lose more,” his tone is warning me to back down. Warning me that he’d cause more damage to me than I’d do to him.
“See what she’s already causing Ryan?” Mom whispers, her voice shaky with fear. “The prophecy is already coming to life. She’s causing a rift. A war. Our pack will fall if you choose her.”
I stiffen.
” She is not the threat,” I grit out, my voice trembling with fury. “You are.”
Mother gasps softly and a flicker of hurt flashes in her eyes. But I don’t care. Not right now. Not when the girl I have been in love with for years is being spoken about like she’s some kind of infection.
Father’s expression hardens into something cold and bitter. An Alpha’s face. Unyielding. Unbreakable. “Choose wisely son,” he warns. “You’re walking a dangerous path.”
“Then push me,” I hiss, my back straightening with defiance. “See what happens.”
His eyes flare at my challenge. “I have warrior wolves surrounding her home right now. One word from me and….
I grow cold and I swear to God that my heart stops beating. Every muscle in my body locks. My lungs seize. My wolf goes silent…….so silent it terrifies me. ” Don’t,” I manage to crack.
“I am the one in charge here Ryan. I am alpha. And until I decide to step down and deem you worthy to pass you my title, you will do as I say,” his gaze is sharp as a blade and not once has it shifted away from me.” I have connections not even you know son. Don’t make me do something that destroys you.”
I stare at him for a moment and wonder why I looked up to him as a child. How can this selfish man be my father? My eyes flicker to mother and see that she seem satisfied with my father’s words.
I shake my head in disappointment, fist forming at my sides. “You would really go this far?” I whisper.
“For the pack and your future?” he says. “Yes.”
I shake my head, my heart heavy in my gut. “You don’t know what you’re doing,” I said in a broken whisper. You’re breaking fate,”
” And I will do it again if it means saving the pack and your life,” Father utters but this time his voice is less cold.
“You’re willing to murder. To lie. To control. To force me into a bond with someone I don’t want,’ take a step closer, staring my father dead in the eyes. “That’s not leadership,” I say. “That’s cowardice. Fear of a prophecy we are not even sure of.”
His eyes flash bright crimson and Mother’s lips part in horror. But I’m past the point of caring. Past the point of seeing their side. If they want a war in this room, they’ll damn well get one.
Father exhales sharply, grounding himself. “The prophecy was set in stone. Which is why my word is set in stone. Kimberly will be your luna or I get rid of the threat. One word from me Ryan and she’s gone.”

A chill runs down my spine. I knew my father was serious and knew Evie’s life was really in danger. I couldn’t let harm come to her. I couldn’t…..I wouldn’t…..
