Ryan’s pov

I slammed the door harshly behind me and stormed my way to my office which had now turned into Kimberly’s damn beauty lounge. 1

The notification on my phone screen was still burning into my skull. $50,000.00,

Fifty fucking thousand dollars at a high-end jewelry store in the city. In the middle of a financial bleed and in the middle of a damn vampire attack which happened last night.

As Luna, she should’ve been grieving for the loss of many pack members. Mourning for the innocent souls. But instead, she’s being her selfish self and buying high end jewelry.

This damn woman.

I pushed the office door open without knocking. The scent of nail polish and suffocating floral perfume hit me the second I stepped into the room. My nose twitched and Apex makes a disgusted sound in my head. He loathed her

too.

Kimberly was seated comfortably behind my desk, blonde hair pulled into a high clean bun on top of her head. One of her legs is crossed over the other while a young girl, seeming to be just a preteen, carefully paints her nails a glossy dark pink.

Kimberly doesn’t even look up but she knows I am here. She always refuses to acknowledge my presence, especially when I am irritated. Which is every time she’s close.

“Careful, “she murmurs softly to the girl but her tone holds an edge of warning to it. “That shade is limited edition.”

My jaw ticked. “Get out.” I ordered the girl. The girl is startled, her hand slipping slightly. She lets out a yelp when the bright pink liquid spill on Kimberly’s skin.

Kimberly hissed with irritation and finally glancing at me as if I had caused something disastrous. “She’s almost done Ryan baby.”

“I said,” I growl low and step further into the room, my eyes glaring at them both but I am demanding the young girl to get out of the room. “Get out.”

The girl’s eyes widened and she quickly caps the polish, gathered her supplies with shaking hands and rushes past me with trembling words. “Yes alpha.”

The door clicks shut behind her. Kimberly leans back in my chair, examining her nails under the light the second we are alone. “What’s wrong now?” she asked lazily and had the audacity to let out a yawn.

I storm towards her, my face raging with anger as I pull my phone from my pocket and toss it onto the desk in front of her. It slides across the wood and stops near her freshly painted fingers. “Explain this Kimberly.”

She cast her bored gaze down at the screen. Her expression doesn’t change. There’s no shock, no guilt and no shame. Instead what’s there is light annoyance.

“Oh,” she said lightly. “The diamond necklace? It is stunning Ryan, isn’t it? You should see it in person, I’ll wear it tomorrow-

My hands curl into fists at my sides before I slam them on the desk. The desk rattles and she gasps, finally showing a flicker of fear.

“Fifty thousand dollars!” I cut in sharply, my chest rising and falling as rage consumes me. How dare she spend my money without consulting me first? Luna or not, she had to ask permission.

A brief flicker of nervousness swims through her eyes before she hides it away with a calm shrug. “I don’t see what’s the big deal here baby. We can afford it.”

My wolf stirs with irritation and it’s so hard to keep him back from lashing out at her. “No,” I snapped, leaning over the desk to shoot her a hard angry stare. “We can’t.”

Her eyes sharpen. “What is that supposed to mean Ryan? Are we going broke? We can’t go broke Ryan, I have to look pretty always and keep up with my appearance.”

Was that all this woman cared about? To sit and look pretty?

“It means,” I bit out, leaning both palms onto the desk. “We’ve lost nearly fifty percent of our warriors. It means we’re reinforcing borders every night. It means I’m distributing funds for weapons, for patrols and rebuilding infrastructure after the last attack.”

She rolled her eyes. “Don’t be dramatic baby.”

Dramatic.

A harsh laugh escaped me. The nerve of her. During the attack last night the strongest female in our pack which is her was nowhere to be seen. She stayed back while everyone fought off vampires. By some miracle my entire pack wasn’t wiped out clean.

“Do you have any idea how bad things are right now after the attack last night Kimberly?” I question her sarcastically.
