Evie’s pov

Margaret’s eyes lit up with relief. She thought her dear daughter had come to save her.

“Kimberly-” Margaret starts to call out but her eyes widen when I move my hand from her face and wrap my fingers around her throat.

“Perfect timing,” I said, amused. “I was just about to make your mother drink this tasty wine.”

My grip on Margaret’s throat doesn’t loosen and instead tightens. Kimberly’s gaze dropped to my hand wrapped around Margaret’s wrist…..then to the glass hovering dangerously close to Margaret’s lips.

Her eyes narrowed.” This is an order from the luna of this pack. Release my mother or else-

“Would you shut the fuck up about your title?!” I hissed, growing irritated. “When will you realize you being Luna doesn’t mean I would listen to you? You’re not my luna Kimberly.” I pointed out.

Kimberly’s her lips parted slightly as her expression twist nastily when my words hit her. She grows vexed and that when I saw it in her eyes, the doubt. But then it vanished and is replaced by fury.

“You forget where you are,” she snapped taking a step forward, her aura flaring which made my wolf aura. “This is my territory. My pack. You’re under my authority-”

My fingers tightened around Margaret’s throat and a strangled gasp left her lips, her hands clawing weakly at my wrist. The glass of wine hovered just inches from her mouth, the liquid inside catching the light and somehow made it look even more crimson and lethal.

“And you forget who you’re talking to,” I said softly, the pitch of my voice lowering dangerously. “I don’t care about your title or your fucking threats,” I tilted my head slightly, eyes locking onto hers. “I don’t answer to you Kimberly.”

Kimberly’s gaze flicker to the hand on Margaret’s throat and the wine swirling dangerously close to Margaret’s lips. She knew the situation was slipping out of her control. I smirked.

“Evie,” Margaret choked out, her voice strained. “You don’t understand-”

“Oh, I understand perfectly,” I cut her off, pressing the glass closer to her lips. “Poisoned wine to kill me. So cowardly but so… you,” I grinned at Kimberly and she stiffened. Just as I utter those words, another coward appears in my line of vision.

Hannah. She looks the same as she did years ago.” She’s bluffing,” Hannah snarls, coming to stand beside Kimberly.

“Am I Hannah?” I raise a brow, clutching around Margaret’s neck harder. “Glad to see that you’re still Kimberly’s maid.”

Hannah’s eyes ablaze with fury. “You bitch-

She’s about to come towards me but Kimberly’s hand shoots out and stops her. “You’re right. Evie won’t do it. She’s always been weak-

A small smirk curves my lips as I tip the glass just enough for a drop to touch Margaret’s lower lip. She whimpered, trying to turn her head away but my steel-like grip didn’t allow it. Seeing that, Kimberly stops her words.

She underestimated me and that was her problem.

“Wait, stop!” Hannah blurted out, panic breaking through her composure, which reveals that the wine was indeed poisoned. Kimberly shot her a sharp look that said shut up but it was too late, I already got the confirmation I needed.

My smirk widened and that seem to further irritate Kimberly. She was losing and she knew it.

“Interesting,” I murmured. “Your maid just confirmed my suspicion. What kind of poison is in there? Aconitum?”

Kimberly’s eyes burned into mine angrily. “You think you will get away with threatening the luna’s family?”

I let out a humorless chuckle. “I don’t think, “My grip tightened again. Margaret let out a choked gasp. “I know,” I snarl in the air.

My wolf stirred beneath my skin, pressing forward, hungry for a fight. Hungry to dominate. The temperature in the room seemed to drop suddenly as the weight of my presence settled over them like a dark cloud.

Kimberly felt it. I saw it in the way her shoulders tensed…the way her breathing hitched slightly. She tried to hide it but I saw.

“You want to play games Kimberly?” I continued, straightening my spine. “Fine. Let’s play properly,” I pulled the glass back from Margaret’s lips and watch relief flood her face too quickly.

step away from the useless woman and approach Kimberly with the glass in my hand. She eyes me like a hawk but she doesn’t back down. Hmm she grew a backbone now that Hannah was here.

Before she could react and say anything, I shoved the glass into her hand instead. “Drink it,” the words fall like a command in the air and it crackles with power.
