Ryan’s pov

All I saw was red as I stormed my way to the pack’s infirmary. It had only been the second day since she got here and she stirred up my world like a fucking tornado.

I slammed the door open and the thing came off its hinges. Mother who had been stroking father’s hair, jumps up from the chair, clearly startled. Her eyes widen when she sees the fury I knew was on my face.

“Ryan what’s-

“What the fuck did you and father do!?” I snapped, storming to them. Father’s weak form was in bed, his face flushed pale. He looks like death itself.

Mother’s wide eyes stare at me with shocked fear. “Ryan-

“My wolf recognizes Evie as my mate. From the moment she stepped foot here I knew she was something special, “I snarl, stopping before them. My chest heaved as the words ripped out of me.

I pointed an accusing finger at mother. “You knew she had been my fated mate. That’s why you hated her the second you set your eyes on her! Why? Why do you hate her! Why did I choose Kimberly over her?! What did you make the witch do?!”

Mother’s lips parted as my harsh tone shakes over her. Her fingers trembled at her sides and that….that was what made cold realization settle in my heart. Because her reaction alone tells me everything I needed to know.

“Ryan please listen-

“No! I’m done listening to the fucking lies you told me!” I glared at them both. Father’s eyes could barely stay open. “I want the truth. NOW!” I step closer and my wolf presence stirs in the room and made mother shrink back.

“Tell me everything,” my alpha command pushes out boldly and makes her shiver where she stands. Her knees buckle and her hands grasp her throat as she chokes,

She was trying to stop the command. She was fighting it.

She stumbles back and clutches father’s hands. Father coughs, shaking his head. Since he was weak, it was easier for my command to dominate his alpha wolf too.

“SPEAK!” I roared.

Mother cried out as the command whipped tight around her and forced the truth up her throat whether she wanted it or not. Tears streamed down her face.

“We called in a witch!” she choked, her voice breaking as her body trembled violently. “We asked her to interfere with your bond….with your mate bond! We told her to get rid of it but she could only suppress it.”

The room went silent, so silent that I could hear the movement of ants on the far left wall. Even Apex stilled for a second…..but then rage so blinding came back twice as strong as before.

“You did what?” The tone of my voice dropped low and lethal.

“We got a prophecy from a powerful witch a long time ago. If you wouldn’t mate with the strongest female in the pack, the pack would diminish into nothing. We had to take extreme measures to secure

“And look how that turned out!” I snarl as Apex stirs angrily. “Look how Evie turned out to be the strongest all along! Look how she dominated Kimberly! Look how you two have ruined the pack! You two did this! You two

caused this!”

Father coughed harshly, his grip weak in Mother’s hands but he forced himself to speak. “We didn’t have a choice at that time. We had to make you mate with the strongest female in the pack. At that time, Evie had no wolf. She was weak. Kimberly had been superior.”

I stared at him in shock.

“There is always a choice!” I snapped, taking another step forward. The floor beneath me cracked slightly under the pressure of my wolf power. It stuns me because it has never done this before. “You don’t touch something as sacred as this! You don’t tamper with a fated bond!”

Father coughed again, more violently this time and blood stained the corner of his lips. “The spell… is already breaking anyway,” he rasped.

My canines push out my gums as I snarl at him. “What do you mean by breaking?”

“It wasn’t designed…for proximity,” he forced out, wheezing as he tried to pull air into his lungs. “Now that she’s here…your bond is rejecting the suppression. It’s tearing itself free.”

Mom looks at me pleadingly. “We didn’t mean for this to happen Ryan-

“Shut up!” I snarl at her. “You wouldn’t have told me the fucking truth anyway if the memories were not coming back and that damn bitch Kimberly didn’t confess! How long would you have had me live in those lies!? How long would you have chosen the pack over your own son!?”

She looked away but father, father still had some bravery in him. He glares. At least he tries what he could muster. “You don’t speak to your mother in that tone-
