Evie’s pov
The impact clashed in the air with loud growls and roars.
A surprised gasp tore from my throat as the two massive wolves collided, teeth snapping, claws tearing into dirt and flesh to draw blood. The sound alone, loud snarls, vicious growls, the mere crack of force, has the warriors looking at the two in panic.
Their gazes shifted to me to intervene but I shook my head. Two alphas clashing, this wasn’t something you just stepped into blindly. This wasn’t just a mere spar; it was a brawl. A brawl about me.
“Stop!” I hiss into the air.
My heart pounds hard against my ribs as I watch them circle each other, muscles coiled and ready to strike. Then they lashed out again. Gavin was quick as he dodged the vicious strike from Ryan and then aimed to strike back where he could.
But Ryan…Ryan wouldn’t let him land a hit. He was relentless as Apex moved like a storm.
Every strike harsh enough to hit deep if it landed right. And Apex wanted it to land. I could see it in the way he was so tensed and eyes so focused on Gavin’s every move. He was looking for a weak spot and if he got it, things would turn into more of a disaster.
My fingers curled into fists at my sides.
‘This is getting out of control.’ I hiss in my head.
Serena paced restlessly inside me. ‘He’s not holding back.’
I could see that. Every snap of Ryan’s jaw came too close to hurting Gavin and every lunge forward carried so much force that it was meant to kill.
‘We need to stop them before it lands one of them six feet under,’ I said with worry to Serena.
Gavin darted forward again but this time so much faster that he managed to clamp his jaws onto Ryan’s shoulder. My heart skips painfully and I am ashamed to feel how worried I got.
A snarl ripped from Apex as he twisted violently and shook Gavin off like it didn’t hurt him, like it was nothing he couldn’t handle.
But then Ryan lunged again and this time….he connected. My breath hitched.
Ryan’s jaws closed around Gavin’s neck, not deep enough to kill but deep enough to make Gavin yelp in pain and pull back a little. Crimson blood spilled heavily.
“Shit…”” I muttered under my breath, my body tensing.
The warriors gasped and some of ours took a step forward instinctively to help our alpha. However, if they do now, the alpha wolves could hurt them.
“Stay back!” I snapped without looking at the warriors as I kept my eyes on the two fighting wolves.
“STOP!” I shouted but of course neither of them listened.
Of course, they didn’t. The male egos were hard to deal with. Fucking idiots.

Gavin lunged again, his wolf moving fast and agile as he aimed for Ryan’s flank but Ryan didn’t even flinch. He took the hit like it was nothing and snapped back twice as hard, his jaws barely missing Gavin’s neck again.
My heart slammed violently against my ribs. Yeah, I need to stop this war.
“Enough!” I screamed again, my voice laced with dominance, but it was drowned out by another vicious snarl from the two.
Okay, I had enough of this. If they continue, one of them will end up dead.
Pain ripped through me as my bones cracked and reformed but I could barely feel it. My white wolf Serena exploded forward, paws digging into the dirt as we launched ourselves straight between the two fighting Alphas.
My body slammed into Ryan first, hard. Hard enough to force his massive body back a step or two. He snarled immediately and turned on me out of instinct but froze the second his glowing eyes met mine. He seemed shocked as he peered at me.
And that slight pause and hesitation is all Gavin needed as he lunged again.
‘No!’ I barked through the mind link as I spun and blocked him this time, my body pressing between both of them.
My growl was loud and furious. My chest heaved as I stood there, positioned firmly between the two, my hackles raised, teeth bared not at one, but at both.
Ryan’s wolf paced a step to the side, restless and furious as his gaze locked onto Gavin like he was still seconds away from tearing him apart. Gavin too was tensed the same way.
I shifted back into my human form between them and one of our male warriors took off their huge shirt to throw it at me. I catch it in one hand and quickly pull it over my naked body. It touches my thighs and it’s enough to hide my body.
“You,” I pointed at Ryan angrily. “You don’t get to lose control for something that isn’t yours anymore. You lost that right the second I left this pack,” I continued, stepping closer to his huge wolf, unafraid. “You’re supposed to be an Alpha. Start acting like one.”
That one hit him. I could see it on his face that I hurt him, but I couldn’t stop.
“Because right now?” I added, my voice sharp. “You’re acting exactly like the kind of leader that gets his people killed, which is exactly what happened. If the council hears that you lost control; they’d call you in. ”
Silence settled over us but I could see the hurt swimming in his eyes. Apex even bowed a little, as if ashamed. Even the warriors looked like they felt pity for him. I couldn’t afford to feel anything.
My chest rose and fell harshly as I held Ryan’s gaze. “Get it together,” I said icily, my voice firm.” Or stay the hell away from me.”
He stared at me and for a moment, I almost regretted my words. But I remembered that I shouldn’t and straightened my back, chin pointed firmly. Apex lets out a sound that is a mix of a whimper and growl before his gaze lingers on me one last time, turns around and runs away.
Gavin shifts into his human form and another warrior sends him an extra pair of jeans. His jaw is tight as his gaze flickers past me towards the area Ryan disappeared to.
“He’s not stable to lead a pack,” Gavin said bluntly. “You saw that. One second he’s talking, the next he’s trying to rip my throat out.”

A flicker of irritation sparked in my chest. “He thought you were claiming me,” I said flatly.
Gavin scoffed lightly. “I said it to piss him off. To see if he can control his emotions as a leader.”
