FREYA POV
Levi went down and called the sheriff up. He gave the sheriff specific instructions to not come while it’s dark out and that he should bring a few people. We will send a couple people down to escort them up here, give them a hut for the night if they need, then escort them down.
Levi did describe the body and also advised that there have been issues of vampires. He asked the sheriff if they just want us to bring the body down, but they insist they need to come up.
Colt said the sheriff has been up here before. Apparently, he isn’t a fan. He thinks we’re all some
weird people that practice weird magic. I’m not sure where that idea came from, but Colt is just
hoping they don’t have to stay.
Colt told me that the people in the smaller towns before the mountain believe very strongly that
the mountain holds incredible power, that the mountain decides who is allowed on it and who is
asked to stay. The mountain decides who lives and who dies.
All of that sounds like the suspicions of people with too much time on their hands and too many
movies watched. Colt says there’s some truth to it but I feel like if it were true then I would have seen something over my year here.
The sheriff is coming today so at first light a few guys went down to meet up with them, since the police men are human I imagine it will be a few hours before we hear anything about them arriving.
On the plus side from all this crap, Colt got word from both the groups of guys he sent out.
The group that went to see Belladonna said that she’s heard rumors of some sort of daylight curse. All three of them mentioned that Belladonna’s mom had mentioned it before too. They’re not sure why they’re here, but they thought maybe it has to do with breaking this daylight curse.
The group that went to her mother’s house came back with several bags of scrolls and books. They said they grabbed anything that looked blood related, vampire related, or Big Sky related.
Literally nothing they brought back was in English, but one of the guys Colt sent down there knows how to read and speak a couple languages so he and Eunice are working together to try to read through everything to see if they have found anything useful to us.
I didn’t know Colt had sent anyone down at all. He never mentioned it to me, which seems odd because he usually tells me his plans. While we were eating, I thought it would be a good time to
ask him.
“Hey, umm, why didn’t you tell me you sent anyone to see Belladonna or to her mom’s place?” I asked while I tried to act casual just eating my food
He didn’t look up from his plate, he just shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t know.” He said like it just

Maybe I’m reading into it, maybe he really just didn’t think about it. But I had to keep pressing, because frankly I don’t think he just didn’t think about telling me.
“Just seems like the kind of thing you’d usually inform me of. It’s not like you to keep plans to yourself.” I added, again very casually and eating. For some reason it felt like I was treading rough
waters here.
He sighed and just shrugged his shoulders again, “I don’t know, sorry.” Not looking up from his plate again.
Okay, I know I’m not reading into this, there’s something going on. “Colt, what’s up?” I asked, making sure he noticed that I set my fork down and was looking at him.
“Nothing Freya just eat.” He said, very coldly.
“You’re keeping something from me.” I said boldly.
I irritated him with that. “So what? You think after only a year you know when I’m keeping something from you? Could it maybe just be that I’m stressed and worrying about the vampires trying to kill us?”
This took me by surprise. He doesn’t act like this.
“If you’re stressed or something why don’t you just talk to me? You plan on handling all of this on
your own?” I asked.
He slammed his hands down on the table, “Maybe lam Freya! Is that fine with you? Do I need
permission from you?”
I calmly looked up at him, “I am your wife Colt. Also your Luna. Therefore, you don’t need my
permission but you should at the very least talk to me.”
He turned to leave, “Whatever Freya.”
Then he walked out the door.
I have no idea what the hell is going on, but that is something he has never done to me. He’s never talked to me like that nor has he just left like that when we were talking.
I guess at some point one should expect to have some conflicts or troubles with their spouse, but I figured we would work everything out by talking like we usually do.
Jessi walked in, “Everything okay?” She asked as she closed the door behind her.
“Umm I don’t know.” I said, still in shock. “I think we just fought.”
She looked at me with a raised brow, “You think?”

“Wel, just asked a question and he got pretty upset about it. I think maybe he is stressing and not
wanting to talk to me about it for some reason.” I said.
Think it’s a lot going on Freya. He lost a young girl in the pack, vampires are wanting us dead, a
human body turns up dead near our homes and he has the sheriff coming up here.” She said, “He
very well could just be overwhelmed. I’m sure it will get better.”
She shrugged her shoulders and I suddenly realized she is in here without any of our kids.
“Where are the kids? Sleeping?‘ lasked.
On I just took all the knives in the kitchen and set them on the floor with them all and left them
Lacne.” She said rolling her eyes, clearly sarcastically.
She laughed, “Levi talked to a lady that helps some of the other moms with their kids to come and
take care of the kids for a couple hours a day so we can all have small breaks.” She said.
“Onresnice I said, trying to engage in conversation with her but honestly all I could think about
was how Cot acted.
