FREYA POV
“So, any mate bond or just yours is the biggest question here.” Damon said.
“Look, our mate is strong because of who we are. can’t guarantee that it’s just the bond of mated wolves.” I said, I looked to Colt “We need to figure something out, and soon! If they don’t attack at daylight that leaves us until dusk tonight to prepare
As if Goddess sent himself, Eunice ran out with a scroll in his hand, “I found it! I found it!” He yelled.
He made it to Colt, handed him the scroll, and took a moment to catch his breath.
“It’s the scroll of the Night Demons.” He said, still totally out of breath. “They’re not actually demons, but that’s what the witches used to call them.”
Colt looked at Eunice a moment, expecting more to be said. When he didn’t continue Colt asked, ” And what exactly does this scroll say?”
Eunice smacked his forehead, “Right. Of course. The scroll gives everything we need to know: how to kill them, the best defense from them for almost every species, and their weaknesses.”
Damon stepped forward, “Well spit it out man! We’re on the edge of our seats here.”
Eunice smiled, “To kill them you must Decapitate them or stake them in the heart, with a wooden.
stake.”
Colt laughed, “F*****g fabulous. We’re surrounded by weapons men!” He said loudly as he held his
arms out wide above him signaling to the many trees all around us.
Eunice continued, “We all know they can’t be in direct sunlight and they live on human blood. But
they get weaker with every passing day they don’t have blood, after a week they die.” He motioned
to all of us, “And they can’t feed on you.”
“I want to know how we defend ourselves from them. Please tell me we aren’t one of the species
not given a method of protection.” I said.
“Actually humans are the only species I didn’t find. But, the biggest one is their mind control.
Ingesting moon dust will prevent it for short periods, not permanently. He looked at me and then
Colt, “I think the only reason you’re here right now is your bloodlines.”
Colt clapped his hands together, “Alright folks gather the pack! I have a plan and only a short time to make this happen!”
We have a little moon dust available, so Colt gave it to the best pack herbalist and asked that she make something that could could be ingested by the pack, maybe a tea of some sort. He also asked that it include garlic as it does help mask the scent of werewolves to vampires, according to

He has many men working on making as many wooden stakes as they could possibly bust out by the time we need them. He has a group of the best builders working on a trap. Then, he has men working on making more swords and sharpening any that we have.
While all this was being done the realization hit me that the foul woman that we just encountered couldn’t be dead. I sliced through her neck quite deep, but her head was not cut off.
I think Colt realized that too, because he came up and asked, “Do you think they’ll still attack?”
I took a moment and thought, “She needs us to break the curse, so if they don’t tonight then they will soon. Might as well be prepared.”
He didn’t say anything, he just nodded.
“You have this under control. I am going to go be with our babies.” I kissed his cheek and went to the pack house.
When I got up to the nursery both kids noticed me immediately and began crawling over to me.
I’ve gotten pretty good at holding them both at the same time now, and right now having them in
my arms was all I wanted.
“I’m glad you’re home Freya.” Jessi said as she stood up and picked up Jaxson. “I’ll leave you with your loves until later.” She left the room and gave me the chance to be alone with my sweet littles.
Hunter has been pulling himself up on things and thinking about walking. Kira is all about playing
with blocks. They both have the best laughs I’ve ever heard, though I might be biased.
This is what I needed.
I decided to take them down to the kitchen with me, I have little chairs in there for them. I grabbed an apple and put water in a pot to boil. I lit a fire in the stove and played with them while we
waited. Making applesauce has become second nature these days. I’ve tried all kinds of other
foods, but apples are their favorite.
Thankfully they like the same thing, makes it easier on me.
Once the applesauce was made I sat with them and started feeding them. Colt decided to join us for a little bit. The kids have a special way of making big problems feel so small. When sitting here playing with them and heading their giggles you can almost forget problems even exist.
I sat there a minute and watched as Colt talked with them and made them laugh. For just a moment our family felt almost like a normal family. For the moment I longed for a world where this was our day to day, and the chaos was on someone else’s plate.
Reality isn’t that easy though. Sometimes there’s species ending s**t that falls into your lap, sometimes you’re kidnapped by crazy chiefs, and vampires want to sacrifice you.

Looking at these beautiful children and my amazing husband the one thing that rang more true
than the chaos we’ve lived in was the fact that I’d end this whole world if I lost even one of them.
As the sun began to go down and the bells began to ring I knew what needed to be done. Jessi
came and grabbed the babies as Colt and I hugged and kissed them.
We walked out of the house, loaded up with weapons and drank the bit of tea we were given with
the moon dust. My fury evident in the glow of my eyes that I could see reflecting back at me
through Colt’s eyes.
It’s time for these demons to die, and with my mate at my side I know we can do anything.
